“Quick hill walk”

Nice walk on a good path, small car park at Moullin so you need to be there early!

“Stunning Views on offer”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 11, 2011

Ben Vrackie is easily accessible from Pitlochry however you want to get there. There is a car park at the start of the walk however it can get busy later on in the day, however there is still other areas to park just not as close. The walk up Ben Vrackie Is great and not too strenuous, This is a peak suitable for everyone. There are plenty of resting places and photo opportunities on the way up if you feel like a break. The walk does get a little steeper towards the peak but still fine on a good day. The views all the way up are great however it is when you reach the peak that you find some real stunning views. The summit marker points out all the local and distant peaks that can be seen from Vrackie. This is all about soaking in all the views from every direction, and the joy of reaching the top. I recommend this to anyone from beginners maybe looking to do their first ben to people that walk all the time. Pick a nice day and you will love it.

“AM away upThe Ben”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 3, 2010

it takes a good 3 hours to get to the top if you are reasonably fit . As a Pitlochry lad i used to go up it at least once a year from age 10 to 16. Then i moved away but have been back regularly and will spend a relaxing day sometimes retracing my youth and memories, usually ending in the Moulin pub on my descent just to wet the whistle. The views on the way up and from the trig point at the summit are stunning .All the Tummel /Tay valley down to Perth (Weather permitting.) and north to Beinn a Ghlo and Carn Liath if you want to bag a few munros are visible .Range after range of hills over to wards Kirkmichael and Glenshee
It is even more stunning in winter but a bit you will have to set of early suitably attired a heavy1200 gauge 4ft x2ft sheet of dpm or polythene aids a quick descent in the snow ,,,exhilirating..... or if you have a nylon anorack with a hood put your rucksack on your belly and fly downhead first on your back. trajectory and speed controled by your feet ...who needs Nae Limits to get an adrenalin rush
