They must have read your review Phyllis K because by the time I arrived in March (with an Itison voucher) the breakfast was sensational. Perfect Eggs Benedict in 5 minutes and a whole range of other delicious breakfast items from fresh blueberries and raspberries to brie, proscuitto and freshly bakes croissants and pains au raisin.
Warm, comfortable room with 2 double beds, heavenly pillows and thick duvets, Proper towels. Proper tea tray - with biscuits.
Good bar with a nice atmosphere and particularly friendly staff. We were positively gushing with praise at the end of our stay and will certainly return.

Room Tip: I stayed in room 7 on St Patrick's night and could here some music from the bar below but it was...

The hotel has a working mill , a very good restaurant bar and us having small kids in scotland is a previledged to stay in a bar longer than 8 pm is priceless ! Will stay in this hotel again this october coming as going to see the Enchanted forest for the second time this year . very accomodating staff xx

Old mill with a modern clean and comfortable interior. Friendly staff and good food.
However take care if booking the MillSuite, £135.00 per night. It really is just a family room and no bath tub. Soap from a dispenser does not lather, so take your own! Fresh flowers would have been nice. Otherwise an enjoyable stay.

Room Tip: Room 12, the Mill Suite only has a shower and no lighting over the wash hand basin making shaving di...

Having booked a room with our Itison voucher we were asked, for a further fifteen pounds, if we would like to upgrade to a 'suite!' On arriving at this 'old' Mill Inn, we were greeted by a very friendly member of staff who took us to our 'suite' (which consisted of two double beds, a two seater sofa and coffee table) which ended up to all intensive purposes being a family room!! Little bit dispappointing. On the whole the room was clean as was the shower room - no bath. The bed was uncomfortable and with the polyester duvet and pilllows we didn't get the sleep we were looking forward to.The two glasses, which were both dirty, from the bedroom were handed back to the staff member behind the bar in the evening on our way to dinner in the Inn restaurant. As we were the only two guests in the restaurant, the service we had both from the young Australian waitress on duty and the kitchen could not be faulted nor could the food, from the starter - bruschetta - to my Husband's lamb and my haddock we could not have been happier. After dinner we retired for the evening, looking forward to the breakfast which we assumed would be as good as dinner! How wrong could we be! Again we were the only ones in the breakfast area and again we were served by the waitress. There was only one member of staff in the kitchen and as another couple, who had arrived, managed to place their order before us, we had a 20-30 minute wait for our breakfast! My scrambled eggs and salmon was ok,. Can't say the same for my Husband's full Scottish - the mushrooms, egg and tomato were burned, whilst the plate was rather greasy. All in all not what we had expected from our night away from home. The cost of the 'suite' and the breakfast would have been one hundred and eighteen pounds and this would have not been good value for money as we neither got a good night's sleep or a good breakfast. Thank heaven for our Itison voucher as we paid in total sixty four pounds.

Room Tip: Do not have room 12 as it is not a 'suite' merely a family room.

We tried to book a two night stay for any weekend before our Itison voucher expired because we enjoy live music. Unfortunately, we were told they were fully booked so I asked if they could contact us if they had a cancellation. A week or two later Caroline phoned and said they had a cancellation, and we were glad that we took advantage of this offer.
The room was immaculate with everything you could wish for, hair dryer, coffee/tea, a big tv with many channels, comfy bed and a bathroom with plenty of hot water.
On the first night we ate at the Pasha Mediteranean restaurant, a gem of an eating place that seems terribly undervalued by the locals and the few tourists that were in town. Do none of the locals go out of a weekend? On the second night we ate at the Mill, and were astonished how high quality the food was. We both had the 3 course Valentine's menu for less than £20 each, including a free bottle of wine (through the Itison voucher), so we couldn't have wished for better value for money, and very tasty.
The breakfasts were enormous with both buffet and hot food to choose from. All local produce that set us up for the whole day, and tasted wonderful.
The service from all the staff was efficient and friendly, they genuinely looked like they enjoyed their work.
Why spend a fortune staying at 5 star hotels when there are inns like this with real ale, good food and live music?
