“A little break away!”
Reviewed November 2, 2012

I booked this hotel on 5pm.co.uk at a great deal as it was my birthday and wanted to visit friends who live in Pitlochry. The hotel is well positioned in the town , just off the main street. It is friendly and the room we had was modern and well presented (room 11). It was also at the back of the hotel so it was quiet. We didn't eat there but the menu looked delicious. We had a few drinks before meeting friends and it was very cosy in the bar, a lovely wood burner kept us very warm!
Breakfast was lovely with a great selection and overall, I would recommend a visit at this lovely hotel!!

Room Tip: The back of he hotel was very quiet!

We got a great deal on 5pm. Room 11 was smallish but was spotlessly clean and had everything we needed in it. Plenty of towels. Flat screen tv. Very comfy bed. Loads of tea and coffee. Pitlchery itself was an extremely quiet place. We went for a walk along the river during the day. And spent the evening in McKays pub. The breakfast at the Old Mill Inn was simply devine. A buffet spread to start consisiting of cereals, fruits, crossiants, meats + cheeses. Fruit juices and tea/coffee. And a cooked breakfast to follow. The quality of ingredients shone through. Top notch. All in all a faultless stay.

We stayed at the hotel with our two small children in a family room. The room was spacious and clean. The sofa bed was suitable for our needs and the staff were very helpful. Breakfast was lovely, with a nice menu and wide range of fresh produce. My only criticisms were that there was not a lot of parking at the hotel and the t.v. signal broke up a little. On the whole it was a perfect stay.

We stayed overnight here a couple of weeks ago and it was wonderful. We had a beautiful large twin room overlooking the stream at the back. They are beautifully furnished and so welcoming,we decided to have dinner here as well and it was lovely. Breakfast was exceptionally good and all the staff were so friendly. we will definately be back.
.

Room Tip: We had room no 1 and it was lovely and quiet.

We stayed here on Saturday night, 27 October, the hotel was fully booked so very busy. We had a nice lunch on arival, food good, service all good. Walked around the area, came back and got ready for dinner, went to restaurant at 8.45 to find we could no longer get dinner,it closed at 9pm and we could no longer order, although we were told we could get dessert! Would have thought a busy weekend and a Saturday night they would have been glad to continue to serve up to 9pm. We went to bed and I think we had the worst room in the place (number 8) it was over the bar and under other rooms and also next to the cupboards used by the cleaners early the next morning, we could hear guests upstairs going to the toilet, talking, coughing, so not a great nights sleep.
We would like to go back and try again (in a different room!) as the hotel is lovely, clean and well looked after. The big positive being the great staff, including Nicky who offered to make me a sandwich just before midnight!

Room Tip: DOnt get room 8, too noisey!

the outside of the hotel was nice and the restaurant was good. we had dinner there and it was packed. but i didnt feel there was a fit with the website pictures and the room itself. i dont think i would go back to this. had i needed internet i'm not sure it would have been possible but of course i didnt need it so didnt ask about access. there was parking by the inn which was nice. we got there late and couldnt walk around town until the next morning. the breakfast was okay and service was excellent.

My family and I stayed here for one night on a 5pm offer, to go to the Enchanted Forest for my mum's birthday, and we will always recommend this place to whoever asks. The rooms were warm which is a BIG plus in Scotland, spotlessly clean and very comfortable. The hotel staff were the friendliest and most helpful staff we could ask for, and when it came to paying for the chocolates I ordered specially made for my mum and left in her room for arrival, they very generously said they were on the house! Even though I had specifically ordered the chocolates to be in the £15-£20 range! (They were gorgeous chocolates too, if you're in a similar position I very much recommend it, they are prepared by their own chocolatiers) The breakfast in particular was sublime - plentiful, varied and exquisitely prepared. Smoked salmon, smoked haddock, full Scottish breakfast or the classic porridge, as well as the open buffet of your typical fruits, toast, jams, cold meats and cheeses, and croissants. Delicious coffee as well. The actual setting of Pitlochry is beautiful and the locals are friendly and helpful. Overall, I can't praise this place enough. We look forward to returning frequently.
