“The place to stay”
Reviewed December 5, 2013

Just home from a delightful two nights stay. I had to congratulate the Manager on the quality overall. Very helpful and attentive staff. Food choice extensive, well cooked and presented. We were impressed by the equally extensive gluten free menu, a bonus for one of our group who can struggle for choice most times eating out.

All three of us plan to return with family/friends. I can find no fault with Fishers.

Room Tip: Garden rooms quieter.

Really friendly receptionist to greet me, offer me complimentary sherry or whisky and tell me all about the hotel's facilities. Great room with all mod cons. Kettle, mug (I don't like cups!), coffee - regular and decaf, tea - regular and fruit flavoured, sugar, milk and shortbread :-) Hairdryer in the room - next to a mirror, a light and a socket (Holiday Inn take note!!). Comfy bed with spare pillow available and a warm duvet. Big bathroom with plenty of hot water, towels and complimentary toiletries. Very comfortable night's sleep. All staff were very friendly and helpful.

I felt that the food let it down. My chips were under-done, my macaroni was learning to swim in a watery sauce and it was garnished with a huge sprig of parsley! Breakfast wasn't any better - chewy sausages, dry black pudding, tasteless haggis and fatty bacon with a huge sprig of parsley!

I would definitely stay again, but would probably eat out at dinner time and stick to a continental breakfast or poached eggs on toast in the morning.

Visited this hotel on the 18th Nov with Ellen Smith tour. Hotel is ideally situated in the centre of Pitlochery - plenty of shops - Heather shop has some beautiful necklaces, earings. The hotel room was comfortable and large with flat screen tv and coffee and tea facilities. The food was good, variable and hot. Management and staff very friendly and helpful and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this hotel.

We stayed at Fisher's on a Saturday night, in order to attend the Festival Theatre. Pleasant receptionist, but no mention of the complimentary sherry / whisky mentioned on website ( though we noticed a decanter on the shelf!) Room overlooking garden was peaceful, and not a bad size, however, the window would not open, and the radiator was blasting out heat. Reception advised us how to turn down heat, which was fine, but the window was an issue with us, and looked as if it was stuck with paint. Beds were comfy and cosy, and the bathroom was fine. Breakfast was average - not a huge choice, and only warm, rather than hot, in the cooked selection. Staff seemed a wee bit unsure of themselves and we were not greeted on arrival. Some old-fashioned hotel training would improve performance immensely. A lovely old hotel, on the whole, which would benefit by just a few small, but important touches. One last point - on checking out (very friendly and cheerful receptionist), we were told there was a £1 additional charge on the bill, as a donation to the PDSA. Very happy to do this, as it's a wonderful cause, but why not inform guests when booking?

Room Tip: Rooms overlooking garden are peaceful.

We attended the fishers hotel with a group of 12 for the st andrews night dance. The staff were extremely rude and unhelpful and at one point refused to bring us a drink as it would mess up the bar order! Food was good so can't really complain about that. Room had a badly stained carpet too. Would not recommend it and will definitely not be back. The manager however did deal with the complaint with free drinks

Having been a frequent user of Fishers it is a joy to see the vast improvements made of recent years and still continuing.Rooms now so comfy with all the mod cons needed Meals wonderful and bar area much improved. Overall like a welcome lost friend returned. I like the metal work outside to reminisce the old days.

50+ of us went to Fishers Hotel Pitlochry for a Bridge Congress on 8th November. The hotel staff could not have been more helpful and our meals were much better than good. The hotel is being refurbished and I could see the improvement from last year and I expect the same will happen next year.

Room Tip: Last year I was in a garden room which was pleasant.
