“Good short break”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 13, 2013

Stayed for 2 nights at the Atholl Palace Hotel. Really enjoyed our stay. Room was bright clean and spacious. Food really good. Staff friendly and helpful. Swim pool was good but sauna and steam room need refurbished.
Would recommend to friends and would return.

Room Tip: We had room on 1st floor to the back of hotel. Views amazing!

We booked the Enchanted forrest package this included over night stay, evening meal, breakfast and tickets to the forrest, truley impressed with hotel and the grounds, rooms were spacious, well equiped and clean. We did upgrade our room for the Valley view rooms. Reception staff were really friendly, efficient and helpful, resturant staff were also the same cant fault anything, the food for the evening meal wasn't to my taste felt it was more designed to the older generation, but it was to a good standard. Enchanted forrest was also good would return again. Think the next time we'll book a longer visit, would like to try out the various resturants, cafe's and pubs. The atmosphere was friendly and welcoming in Pitlochrie. Nice wee place.

We had a lovely overnight stay here. The building is elegant and spacious, and the room was comfortable, clean and nicely prepared. Staff were friendly and helpful. Evening meal was slightly under par (the issue we had was rectified swiftly by staff), and the sauna wasn't working which was a little disappointing, and we still loved our stay despite this. Facilities are good (gym, swimming pool etc.), and views are spectacular. We would definitely return.

Room Tip: Views are lovely in every direction- be specific about what you want, and if you don't get it, b...

We got married at this hotel 10 years ago so came back to celebrate, this time with children. The driveway and first impressions are still amazing. The welcome was friendly and quick and there were weddings on both days so it was busy.
Our room was lovely and spacious and everything was in working order. Not sure I'd like to stop here in warm weather as there are warnings about birds flying in through open windows.
The spa is a new addition since we last stopped and we went 3 times in 3 days. The water was cold but we had a great time.
We ate here on the first evening and the restaurant was lovely and we all enjoyed our food. The breakfast was also plentiful and enjoyable.

Stayed whilst attending a wedding. Impressive location and attractive grounds, however the bedrooms - or at least those which my wife and I and other family members were allocated could only be described as basic. The rooms were clean but the showers were poor and at times hot water was lacking. We only had breakfast at the hotel - the food was OK but nothing special. The nightly cost of our stay was £134 and that was with the wedding party discount - definetly substantially over priced....perhaps the most infuriating feature was that despite being advised that a discount on the standard rate had been given we know that others who stayed at the hotel and booked through the same process using the same discount code had rooms at a lower rate of £116 & £125.....how on earth can this be fair. We did query this but were told that the rate applying all depended on when you booked. Seems that the rate quoted as being the "wedding rate" can be bettered! Maybe if attending a function at this hotel you might want to consider nearby B&B's which appeared to be better value....the only positive was that the wedding was a fantastic occasion!

Before we had even arrived, we were worried about the volume of Terrible reviews on Trip Advisor. However, we were pleasantly surprised with the hotel. We had friends who did not have such an enjoyable experience with their room. This is not Gleneagles but overall, it is a comfortable, historic hotel in a stunning location with wonderful grounds. We even saw a Red Squirrel. Well done Atholl Palace Hotel but you do need to plough more of your profits into renovating and decorating all the rooms / public areas. Don't just spend it on landscaping. £150 a night for a 70s style, shoe boxed size bedroom is unacceptable given the competition in Pitlochry (fortunately our room was more up-to-date).

Room Tip: Room choice is a lottery. If you complain enough you may get moved. Atholl Palace take note of my...

Stayed here for one night in late Sept, the location, history, grandeur of the place cannot be faulted. The hotel is getting a little tired in places, the rooms the spa etc and could probably do with a renovation soon. Just a lick of paint would probably help. The walk round the hotel to black spout is lovely with wonderful woods and views. On balance a nice place just don't expect to much.
