I can't believe that this hotel has the audacity to advertise itself as some sort of culinary Mecca. Its brochure claims that its "chefs" use "the very best local, fish, game and meat". Sadly, the ingredients were poor and were almost certainly bought from the frozen food section of the local supermarket. The food was absolutely diabolical and without doubt this was the worst meal I have ever had. The accommodation was basic to say the least. To compound matters, this is not a cheap hotel. We paid £170 for one night, including dinner and breakfast (which I wrongly assumed couldn't be any worse than the previous evening's offering). The Pine Trees Hotel is an embarrassment to the Scottish tourist industry. I would advise anyone visiting this beautiful part of Scotland to stay well away from this appalling establishment which clearly puts profit above quality.

We did an overnight stop at the Pine Trees in Pitlochry to visit relatives on our way back home from a wonderful holiday at Eriska. We did not find the receptionist rude, just a little quiet but she was friendly enough. We booked the suite, which was clean and the bathroom was spotless too. The only problem we encountered was that some of the waiting staff in the restaurant found it difficult to understand us, I think they were Eastern European and it was hard work trying to communicate with them.

The food was fine but pretty average, however we were not disappointed because we did not have particularly high expectations. However it was overpriced at £25 per head.

The overall upkeep of the hotel was good, it has a very cosy feel to it and the public areas were quite tasteful.

This hotel is fine for an overnight stay, any longer would not have been an enjoyable experience for us.

Have always seen this hotel in the brochures and looked forward to staying there. On arrival we were greeted by very sullen receptionist (may be the owner) in a shabby reception area. Room was okay but bit cramped. Food in dining area was okay but interestingly the bread rolls were served with a pair of large BBQ tongs. The whole hotel lacked "soul". No personal attention .Waitresses were eastern europeans and had very limited English. No atmosphere. Definetely no interest in whether you had enjoyed your stay. Would definetely not recommend and would certainly not return. Overall very disappointed all round.
