Scotland's Hotel & Spa
Ranked #17 of 18 Hotels in Pitlochry
Reviewed September 7, 2009

having picked what seemed to be the wettest day of the summer to visit Pitlochry I was soaked by the time I checked in at 3pm, having walked round the town for a couple of hours. The girl at reception was very nice and upgraded me to a double room (thanks) which was clean and cosy. I had a relaxing evening and breakfast was excellent with efficient service and lovely food.

After our stay last year we came again. The service in the restaurant was much improved this year. We enjoyed the dinners from the set menu rather than explore the a la carte. The cooked Scottish breakfast, with porridge, was excellent. Our room was comfortable and spacious, with tea/coffee facilities and shortbread. The swimming pool is short, but very clean and warm. One of us did sixty lengths a day. We hope to return next year

It seems overall you had a good stay with us.There was major refurbisment done not so long ago,so the majority of the hotel is in good condition, however this is ongoing and we are aware that certain areas may require some attention. Hope to see you again. Thanks for your response.

The Breakfasts were great and plentifull if you did'nt fancy a full scottish breakfast their was plenty to choose from otherwise. the meals in the pub were ok aswell. The rooms were cosy and very comfortable.

myself, my wife and 10year old daughter & my parents landed at the hotel on the 18 august for our final night of our 5 day break in scotland. everywhere we had stayed beforehand was very satisfactory, until we landed at scotlands hotel. Don't get me wrong, the rooms were nice and clean and the hotel has plenty of character, but our evening at dinner was real fawlty towers stuff! All that was missing was Basil! The staff didnt seem to have a clue what they were doing. Two main courses came out to our table & after 20mins we had to ask the waiter where the other 3 mains were!! He sped off to the kitchen where we could hear them all argueing amongst themselves. There was no organisation whatsoever & 1 of the girls apologised & said that she was really embarrassed, so needless to say we werent looking forward to brekkie the following morning & to be honest it was more of the same. I was glad we only stayed 1 night because my father was ready to blow a gasget, so it was a really bad end to what was an enjoyable break in ALBA.

i am sorry that you found the service within the dining room not to the standard that we strive for. we are in the process of retraining all the restaurant staff to ensure a smoother and more pleasent dining experience.
i take all comments on board.
i hope that you will consider returning to the hotel once we have completed our staff training and recruitment drive.

Food - we are waiting for a new delivery, not much variety at dinner, brekfast was either burnt of uncooked.
Rooms - Problems, "Sorry the maintenance man has a back log", bulbs gone out "Sorry there's alot of bulbs out in the hotel, waiting for them coming in", even though there is a hardware shop at the end of the street!! Plug in sink is missing, we were going to put toilet roll in but we needed to ration it for other purposes ;)
May I say it's a good job that I can make my own bed as the maid never came.
Came to check in at 3pm "Sorry it's not ready yet"!
The bar - "Sorry I'm new here", last nights excuse "Sorry I'm new here" the bar lady never to be seen again.
"Waiting for a delivery."
Lift should be in a museum, walls of the lift are so old they have been carpeted out!
Supposed to receive a free ticket to a castle, well this place should receive a free ticket for demolition!
Manager needs his P45 and sent back to training school on how to manage.
Recommend to friend? Is that a trick question?
