“Simply lovely.”
Reviewed February 25, 2013

My wife and I really enjoyed the whole experience, lovely tea and coffee and cakes to die for. Hettie's signature cake is a worthwhile challenge. The staff are lovely, explaning the vagaries of timed tea infusion and such. We can't wait to visit again.

“Great Homemade food”

Stopped for a light lunch and was not disappointed. Soup was delicious and tray bakes very tasty. Highly recommended. Efficient staff and quirky decor.

“Great Service !”
Reviewed February 23, 2013

This is a lovely place with food and beverages being served in quaint vintage crockery. Great choice of teas - proper tea, served with a timer which is a nice touch

Ordered sausage on a roll but unfortunately disliked the sausages. No problem - the waitress immediately offered a replacement without any fuss - I then enjoyed a bacon roll. The place was extremely busy, however staff went about their jobs in a quick efficient manner.
Would highly recommend a visit here

“So disappointed I didn't look at tripadvisor first before visiting this tearoom!”
Reviewed February 19, 2013

As previous reviewers have stated this tearoom looks good from the outside but don't be fooled. Homemade scones and cakes in the window and a board on the pavement stating 'homemade soups yummy'. Against our better judgment we stopped here for lunch after intending to travel further along the road. I took the 'homemade' lentil soup and it was horrible. It was extremely watery and tasteless and had frozen vegetables in it which were still hard. The soup itself was lukewarm. My husband took the leek and potato soup and he described it as adequate at best. I ate less than half of my soup yet the waitress never even asked if the food was satisfactory. We also had fruit scones and tea which were fine. Without a doubt for £16.50 you can do much better elsewhere. I just wish I had looked at tripadvisor first before we went here.

“Cracking tea and cake”
Reviewed February 19, 2013

Stopped in at lunchtime in the off-season and they quickly prepared a table for our party of six. We were drawn in by the incredible display of cakes in the window and they certainly didn't disappoint the palette. Three of us opted for the afternoon tea (at £11.50) and no-one could finish the tremendous pile of sandwiches, cakes and scones, but the staff gladly boxed up our leftovers. Decor has charm with vintage teacups, plates and cake stands.
