Rosemount Hotel
Ranked #9 of 17 Hotels in Pitlochry

The owners, a married couple, and their younger helper, were exceptionally hospitable, accommodating and warm. Nothing was too much trouble. Breakfast offered welcome fresh fruit as well as the usual porridge, cereal and cooked array. Dinner was classy, steak for him and fish for her with subtle sauces and flavours. This quaint building is within easy walking distance of Pitlochry's main street (Atholl Road) which carried winter stock of Scottish clothing, accessories and hunting gear, a wide range of quality restaurants, hearty bakeries and Hettie's superb tea rooms. The town's Festival Theatre is top rate and active and there is a salmon ladder in the River Tummel below the Atholl Road. Rosemount Hotel has easy, free parking for travellers with a car. The surrounding district offers fantastic highland scenery, Blair castle of the Duke of Atholl, and the House of Bruar which is an upmarket country clothing and art and craft hub, worth window shopping at least, with fresh food stalls and cafeteria. Drive back "home" on the single track C grade road if you dare, for farmhouses, tractors, animals, peat smoke and the ever present river in all its moods. Before confirming a booking it would be wise to ring the proprietors and discuss the size of the bedroom and its view. There is quite a range. Ours was rather small without a view but then we only crashed there at night after busy and happy days in Pitlochry's paradise.

Room Tip: Ask the proprietors about your choice of size and view first - don't just book remotely online.

I booked two rooms at a special rate as they had not been upgraded. For the price I paid, the rooms were more than adequate. They were spotless and had plenty of room. One only had a bath but that was not a major issue. The other had a small shower cubicle which is all that is required for short stay. The breakfast was lovely. Plenty of juice, cereals and hot breakfast if required. Very quiet location. Staff were lovely and friendly. Would use this hotel again.

A warm welcome, well maintained hotel, a comfortable room, good breakfast and evening meal in a wonderful location at a fair price what more do we really want?
I found my stay at the Rosemount relaxing and being close to the town and railway station with many eateries and many walks around the town Pitlocry is a place to spend some time.
The hotel is about a 10 minute walk up from the main street but not too steep in an elevated location overlooking the town and hills across the valley. The menu was a little restricted at a quieter time of the year but my selections were well presented and good value, served with a smile.
Some say the decoration is dated, well maybe my bathroom was but on the whole it has character and not the bland chain hotel chrome and bling but this is rural Scotland.
Your choice and there are many in Pitlochry but experience was a good one. Plenty of parking off road if come by car.

I would stay again.

Reading some of these reviews I find myself wondering what people expect...we paid £35 (yes, £35!!) for bed and breakfast for 2 in the middle of a festival weekend and were happy with what we got.
The room was a good size, the bathroom was tiny but had a perfectly adequate shower, and the staff were friendly and helpful. The breakfast offered a huge choice, and we were served by a smiley waitress.
True, the decoration in the room was very 1980's. But we were in Pitlochry. If you want metropolitan luxury, better stick to the cities.....as for me, I'd happily stay there again!

We were welcomed by a very pleasant and helpful girl who showed us to our room. Room was nice enough. The only thing I'd say is that the hotel was unlocked at night and our room keys were left on the reception desk for us to collect upon our return. Anyone could have walked in and picked this up and raided our room! Very strange practice. Walls were thin and heard the neighbours tv. The best thing was breakfast. Nice selection.

Paid a fifty pound deposit for a two night stay by Paypal. Due to work commitments,I had to cancel well within the refund period. Was assured I would be refunded to paypal as soon as their account had some credit. Despite various calls and emails no refund.
Please be aware if you pay a deposit by Paypal you are NOT covered by their standard policy and they will not put the claim in dispute for you.
Cant comment on the hotel services, but if this anything to go by don't expect much customer care.
Disappointed

stayed here for 1 night with my 2 dogs. owners where very friendly and accomodating. my room was very modern, spotless, bed was sooo comfy. walls a bit thin and could hear the ppl in the next room across the hall, was very aware whilst in the toilet how thin the walls where, made me a little uncomfortable. The food was lovely, i had fish and chips and sticky toffee pudding, 5 star food. The only1 thing i would complain about was that the dogs couldnt be left unattended in the rooms, this was incase they trashed the room, i understand this but knowing my dogs are well trained and wouldnt, it was a bit of a hassle when going for dinner as i had to take them with me, the owners set me up my own little table where i could have the dgs with me but wasnt ideal, couldnt eat in peace or relax. But overall stay was good and very comfortable, defo would stay again.

Room Tip: i had room 19, suitable for a single person
