I had previously visited this restaurant and thot it poor value and my view has not changed. Ordered a bowl of leek and potato soup which tasted nice but was roughly about 3 spoonfuls from a very small bowl £4.25 you could make a huge pot for that. Other places offer soup and a sandwich for not much more cost. Place was empty bread was 1 thin slice and butter frozen . Wont be making a 3rd visit,

Has Dinner in the Auld Smiddy on Saturday 27th April. Had pre booked a table based on comments on here, good idea as it was pretty busy and they did turn some folk away. Young waitress who was on drinks duty had such a smiley face and great personality would be enough to make me return! Our meals arrived very quickly, presentation was very good,Scallops, Black Pudding and Bacon started excellent, I had Haddock which was really nice and my wife had Steak which she said was very tender, finished off with Creme Brulee which was almost the best I have ever had only bettered once by the Pentland Hotel in Thurso! Top marks all round, hope to re-visit sometime.

Recently had lunch in this Inn / Restaurant. The service was very good. The prices were high and I was disappointed with my food being a BLT. It was mostly bread and lettuce for a big price.

This is a popular restaurant, so book a table. Popular with couples, I can see why. It is intimate and cosy. The choice of ales were excellent; you really should try the Red Macgregor.
As a pub though, it lacks any life. We were drawn back for the beer, but as we were 3 male friends, it seemed a little lack-lustre for staying for any length of time.
