“lovely time away!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 22, 2012

My partner decided to treat me to weekend away for my birthday!

As part of a package deal we had our two nights b&b & dinner included for each night too.

Our stay here was fantastic, the pub was very busy with locals popping in and out for a pint. Everyone chatted away and it was a great atmosphere!
The hotel itself was slighlty dated as you first go in but we loved it, lovely rooms & our evening meal was super. I caused a slight problem in our room with one of the features but i called reception and the gentleman was more than understanding and helpful. During dinner we always had the little table facing the small garden (if possible make sure you get that table). Plenty bird watching during the wait for food! The food was perfect for us, we enjoyed each meal and had no problems at all. Always hot, fresh and quick.

Included in our package was the house-brewed ales, make sure you buy these!

The hotel had parking which was very helpful as it was a 20 minute walk to the centre of pitlochry. So we would drive up & down during the day when getting to know the town.

“Pub of hotel has great atmosphere, food & beer.”

We had the steak and ale pie in the pub--terrific! Their brewery makes 4 beers. There was a warm fire and nice atmosphere.

After a long day of travel, this was a nice place to eat and drink. The atmosphere was familiar and comfortable, there were lots of tourists and the locals were easy to talk to. The fire was cozy and the food and local ales were pretty good. It gets a bit hectic and service can be spotty. My orders were not filled correctly because of the staff getting distracted, but overall not a bad place to stop.

“Great atmosphere, Good food, average value”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 10, 2012

The Moulin hotel pub is filled with character and atmosphere. It has low ceilings and is a bit grubby, but you feel the warmth and life of it, even feeling like a local at times.

Even on a Sunday evening all the tables were taken (a good sign), we had a pint at the bar and within 10 minutes were seated for a meal. We looked over the menu filled with typical country pub fare, ordered from the bar and the waiter brought the food to our table.

The food was really good, although the prices were a few pounds over what’s expected for that type of pub food (e.g. the Venison stew was 13£). The house-brewed ales were delicious and good value.

One thing to keep in mind is that it is a 20 minute uphill walk from the center of Pitlochry. Parking is available if you choose to drive up.

“1696 Pub of the Year”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 25, 2012

...at least, that's what it says on the award that is hanging on the wall of the pub at the Moulin Hotel. We have come back here again and again for the great ales, good pub food, and friendly atmosphere. The place gets crowded, and so we've shared our table more than once, and enjoyed conversations with folks from Pitlochry and elsewhere.

This is the kind of pub we come to Scotland for. Can't wait to get back there.
