The Moulin hotel pub is filled with character and atmosphere. It has low ceilings and is a bit grubby, but you feel the warmth and life of it, even feeling like a local at times.
Even on a Sunday evening all the tables were taken (a good sign), we had a pint at the bar and within 10 minutes were seated for a meal. We looked over the menu filled with typical country pub fare, ordered from the bar and the waiter brought the food to our table.
The food was really good, although the prices were a few pounds over what’s expected for that type of pub food (e.g. the Venison stew was 13£). The house-brewed ales were delicious and good value.
One thing to keep in mind is that it is a 20 minute uphill walk from the center of Pitlochry. Parking is available if you choose to drive up.
