“Lovely hotel”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 4, 2011

A really lovely hotel, in the middle of the wood. Not easy to reach, but with large rooms and very good services. Also the breakfast had a good quality. Perth, in the middle of Perthshire, is a perfect basis to visit the region and is near the wonderful Scone palace. A very nice experience.

We stayed at the Hunting Tower Hotel at the start of our holiday in Scotland and it was a real warm welcome to what turned out to be an excellent trip. I had stayed at the hotel about a year ago for business and I was keen to share the experience with my family. The hotel staff were very friendly and the restaurant absolutely fantastic. There are very few places that can deliver such high quality service whilst maintaining a child friendly approach. The hotel building and grounds are quite charming and the rooms, clean and well appointed. We are already looking forward to when we can visit again.

The hotel was nice enough and the staff pleasant however on the second night of our stay there was a school prom being held at the hotel. We weren't made aware of this until we tried to book for dinner on the second night when we were told we couldn't eat before 8:30 as there was a school prom and another smaller function in the hotel that night. Waiting until that late to feed our 2 year old was not an option so they did manage to fit us in at 6 oclock, giving us 10 minutes notice. The food was slightly disapointing but the staff were very obliging and served us our deserts in the lounge so we could put our son to bed as this was as far as the baby alarm would work. However we were woken up in the early hours as the prom finished. The teenagers were obviously drunk and were being loud and abusive, running around outside the front of the hotel. After an hour of this I rang the night porter who went and spoke to the "supervising" teacher and they were eventually made to wait inside the hotel and the noise died down. The next morning the reception staff were very apologetic when we compained to them but informed us there had been damage to nearby cars and as we left the front of the hotel was littered with empty cider bottles etc. The hotel did nothing on the night to control the noise or the teenagers attending the prom once the event inside had finished, this was to the detriment of other guests stays and we will therefore not be using this hotel again.

Dear Thomshols,

Thank you for your recent comments regarding your stay with us at Huntingtower Hotel.

I was extremely sorry to learn that certain aspects of your stay caused you disappointment, we do not normally have any issues with people being disturbed by any noise in the evenings so my sincere apologies that this was the case.

With regards to your dining experience, we pride ourselves on the quality of our food and again I must apologies that on this occasion it was below our high standards. In order for us not to comprise guest service we do have to close the restaurant as certain times on busy evenings.

Finally may I thank you for taking the time and trouble to bring this matter to my attention, it is only through constructive comments and observations such as those you have made that we are able to continually monitor, maintain and improve our standards of guest care.

Kind Regards

Jason Doga

There's very little i can fault with this hotel service first class meals excellent and staff will go out there way to help you , couple of small things maybe can be improved lights next to bed not bright enough to read and also a light next to the mirror ( so that partner can put her face on ) but that's me knit picking. Highly recommend this hotel for romantic break or sightseeing or even a bit of both. Stayed in room 205 and hopefully will be back next year.

Stayed here a number of times over the last 18 years…. a couple’s romantic weekend. The Hunting Tower has managed to preserve its feel of a comfortable and quiet country hotel whilst providing some of the most delicious food in the area.
We had a great two night deal including dinner on the first night. However the meal was so good we booked a table for the second night.
The staff are professional, friendly and attentive but not in your face....Richard and Hannah thanks........
The grounds are lovely for a quiet stroll with the lounge, bar and reception areas particularly relaxing.
The Hunting Tower hosts weddings most weekends but the layout separates the wedding party and other guests very effectively.
Some areas are becoming a little 'tired' but this does not detract from the overall experience.
The location is excellent for shopping trips to Perth or walking in some of the beautiful surrounding forests and hills.
We have always had quiet and relaxing weekends and look forward to the next one in October.
