“Cheap and cheerful but good value for money”
Reviewed November 21, 2013

My extended family and I went to this restaurant in October 2013 and have been there many times before.
The food is very good value for money. The wine and beer is also good value and varied.
There are normally four roasts. Turkey, beef, lamb and gammon. Then there is a reasonable choice of veg and potatoes. It can get a little messy as it seems someone else's job to tidy up the food presentation after the public have attacked it.

If you are looking for elegant surroundings and/or fine dining then this is not for you.
If you want a reasonable meal for a very reasonable price it clean and tidy surroundings then this would suit.

“A poor carvery”
Reviewed October 27, 2013

Avoid this one, if you are looking for a nice experience.
The meat was very fatty, only two choices on , as the oven had broken down apparently.
The table next to us had waited an hour on the turkey being cooked before they got the news.
Paid for the larger choice and basically got the same as the usual size of plate.
Plenty veg, but absolutely boiled to a pulp, the turnip especially.
The young person in charge although pleasant enough, could really do with some training, had the look of someone who was totally overwhelmed and the situation was on top off him.
Toilets stank also, guess not checked during the day, not great for a restaurant, more like the old man pub standard, which in its own environment is ok, but where there is food, no.
This place needs an overhaul in its standards,

“Don't bother”
Reviewed October 20, 2013 via mobile

Just back from the Sunday carvery. Carving meat so thin it is almost transparent is an art form truly mastered by the Toby carvery in perth. When I thought back to eating my meal I had trouble remembering eating the wafer thin beef. The veg on offer was soggy, bland and although edible, was very disappointing. Not sure what was going on with the bread sauce, it was grey and ran like water. Service was poor, table was cleared while my daughter was still eating. One of my children tucked into a packet of crisps on the way home as he was still hungry. For the money we paid £8.99 on a Sunday we could have easily eaten elsewhere and been much happier. The only positive was the reaction of the manager when told we were far from satisfied. An apology and an immediate offer of a reduction on the bill, appreciated, but will not be back.
