Upon arriving at “The Salutation” who you are greeted with a reception that is welcoming but dated (however, I personally quite like this). The staff were helpful given the fact I had arrived 2hours early before check-in due to train times and were able to allocate me a room that had already been serviced to save me waiting around. Once I had arrived within my room (spacious & clean, but again dated) along with old toilets and a not very good shower. Myself and my colleagues went down to the bar for afternoon drinks and a lite lunch (toasties and salad all round). I stayed at this hotel for 5nights and I must say the best thing about the stay was the breakfast and the staff accompanying the breakfast!! They were all such a delight to talk to, particularly the breakfast supervisor... It is just unfortunate that I cannot remember her name!! I think if the room’s and toilets were to be upgraded this hotel would certainly be much more enjoyable! However, the staff do make up for it!
