This is a beautiful hike offering picturesque views. It took us about an hour to the highest falls and back.

The walk up and down this river gorge are gorgeous. Both paths are steep in places, the easier with steps to help. Marvellous photo opportunities, particularly at the lower bridge.
House of Bruar at the base gives good car parking, toilets and restaurant (not cheap but good food). And if you get bored, you can buy your fly rod, tweed jacket, designer dress or whatever (there's also a discount place that has a few bargains).

Beautiful scenery; with the Falls fairly easy to access. All the paths are well maintained and the foliage sympathetically trimmed. A group of students doing the descent through the water and rocks in wetsuits. Mixed feelings about the "shops"-to say that they are vast would be an understatement. Full of country fare; quality clothes and foodstuff; that said the produce was fantastic and the restroom was something akin to a 5 star hotel but it all seemed a bit like a corporate event. Personally I would have preferred something a little more modest. Well worth a visit.

Miss it you might as you drive the old A9, The house of Bruar now dominates.
Just park in the car park and walk behind this overpriced corporate shop.( there used to be a lovely old inn on the site with log fire burning in winter)
Then enter another world and just enjoy the wonderful scenery and waterfalls.
But be warned keep dogs and children under close control as the steep sided slopes can be dangerous.
As my Mother lives in Pitlochry I have been coming here every year for the past 30 years.
History tells that Burns came here and pleaded with the Duke of Atholl to plant trees around the then naked gorge and so it came to be one of the most beautiful places in Perthshire.

I visited this site on a weekend in March with my family. There was a nearby car park, which was useful and a selection of shops & toilets. The whole process (including time for picture taking, etc...) takes about 45 minutes. The harder route isn't that difficult, so don't take much notice of the sign. We went up the easier one as we didn't have great footwear and a pregnant woman in our party, but then came down the harder one and it was perfectly fine. An enjoyable walk with some nice views of the landscape and the falls. A worthwhile attraction.
