Great choice of food, great portions and great service. The no chip policy is a god send. Keep up the good work.

“Good value, friendly service”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 18, 2012

This was my third visit to The Ship Inn and yet again it was really good. Went with my husband and my 10 yr old. We were warmly welcomed and told we would need to wait for 15 mins for a table. The woman behind the bar spoke to my 10 yr old and joked with him, which I always think is a good sign. My husband ordered one of the specials, a steak and sausage pie which he said was really delicious. I ordered the pork and leek sausages, they were really good. My son ordered cheesy pasta from the kids menu, he enjoyed his too. The meals came with a small bowl of mushy peas, a bowl of mixed veg and another bowl with mash and boiled potatoes. The mash is lovely.
My son had a dessert from the kids menu and I had a coffee. We left very full and satisfied. We spent £38 and this included 2 pints and 2soft drinks.
Friendly service, good value.

“Good, honest, wholesome food in a super-friendly atmosphere”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 15, 2012

Booked on the strength of previous reviewers we weren't disappointed as the Ship was everything it said it was and more. The menu was extensive and interesting - one main course featuring banana where you'd never expect it to - so there is something for everybody. A great selection of local produce, very well cooked and a refreshing lack of portion control in place. I particularly recommend the lamb shank which was fantastic. The service was great, we were met with a friendly welcome and tended to really well throughout - our waitress regularly put us in our place! If you want a 'gasto-pub' experience then this probably isn't it - there's far more of a homely feel here from the atmosphere to the service to the food. Price-wise The Ship Inn represents fantastic value for money

If you're in the area definitely worth dropping by.

“Deliciously Scottish”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 12, 2012

Lovely pub atmosphere with a cozy fireplace, very friendly, cheerful and attentive service, delicious food with a good choice of local dishes, all freshly cooked, I had poached salmon in grape and wine sauce, one of my companions had haggis with turnips and mash and another had mince and dough balls....and the desserts were up to par as well. All this in beautiful, green Ayrshire, by the sea....highly recommended.
