TASTEY, DELICIOUS, FREINDLY, COMFORTABLE, GREAT VALUE FOR MONEY, GREAT FOOD SELECTION, GIANT PORTIONS, FRESH COOKED, FRESH PRODUCE......
Had not been out for High Tea for many, many years, but decided to visit Laichmoray in Elgin as it had been recomended to us. We were not dissapointed.
Although the bar was full (remember this was only at 5pm on a Saturday) we were shown to the dining room. White tablecloths, fresh flowers on the table and young, smartly dressed, pleasant waitresses scattered around.
Within 3 minutes of being seated we had our drinks and a stack of fresh toast delivered to our table along with butter and a selection of jams. Food orders taken within 5 minutes from a pretty large High Tea menu.
I opted for the breaded haddock and my wife the liver & bacon.
Both plates arrived quickly and was overflowing. My haddock would not fit on the plate and the top and tail overhung the sides of the plate. Loaded with real beefsteak chips, freshly cooked. The haddock was moist and fresh and coated with a light crispy breadcrumb. It was probably the best haddock I have tasted in many years in a restaurant.
My wife's liver was piled 3 slices high plus 5 rashers of smoked bacon and again a monsterous pile of beefsteak chips. It also tasted delicious she told me.
After the meal we got a large pot of tea delivered along with a cakestand of home made "fancy pieces" and two home made oven scones. Despite my appetite, we could not finish the trays of fancies. And we managed 3 cups of tea each from the teapot.
The High Tea was priced at £12.95 per head and it nicely forced me to tip the staff based on the quality of service rather than the usual 10-15% of the bill. So it was a great change to leave a 25% tip to the staff as they deserved it.
A few families came into the restaurant after us, and the kids were all welcomed and catered for.
What a place to go and enjoy old fashioned hospitality - whenI thought High Teas were a thing of the past. Please try it when you are in the area.

When we visited the Garden room was full so we ate in the still room. We had excellent service, delicious food, and a lovely atmosphere.

Would definitely return here again.
