“Rugby lunch”
Reviewed November 16, 2012

We needed a lunch venue that was happy to show the Wales v Argentina match. We found the right place in the Clubhouse. Very helpful and an excellent lunch

“3rd visit”
Reviewed November 9, 2012

The food in the restaurant was lovely as always. Well cooked and nicely presented. The only negative comment from our party would be the cheese platter...overpriced for what you get and 4 mini oatcakes was not enough for the cheese..also a few grapes would have made the platter look better.

“Enjoyable”
Reviewed November 1, 2012

Thnak you for a very good meal a couple of weks ago. The service from everyone that worked that night was superb and certainly added to the night.
We both had 2 courses and we totally enjoyed it. I like the new look of the bar/hotel and I hope people that use the venue appreciate it also.
My only complaint is that I used to enjoy a draught real ale in the Claymore/Clubhouse, but a bottle is a good 2nd choice.

“Lovely food - tastless decor”
Reviewed October 30, 2012

Stayed in the nearby Golf View hotel and ventured to Orchid for dinner.

No staff were at reception or in the deserted restaurant when we arrived, so we got a drink at the bar and were seated there. The bar itself has been decorated with someone who obviously thinks they are an interior designer, but it looks cheap and very overdone in an american diner style. The lighting was far too bright and we had to move tables as we were seated under colour changing rainbow led downlights at first and they were very annoying. It was also a shame we had to watch the barman's tv choice (boxing) on not one, but 3 oversized tv's or listen to the teeny pop music while we ate. The barman was very much enjoying the mirrors behind the bar to check his hair and tie!

When the food arrived, all 3 courses were delicious - compliments to the chef. Great portions, well presented and very tasty. The dishes were a little overpriced, although having been to other restaurants in the area, this seems the norm for Nairn. I was surprised at the drinks prices - I'm from near Edinburgh and would expect to pay that in town, but not in a little hotel in Nairn! Our food was very enjoyable.

It's really just quite a shame that the surroundings and ambience don't match the high standard of food. The tacky decor really cheapens the experience here, I think the design of the place is trying way too hard to be cool and trendy, and in reality it is actually far from it. Less is more in my book.

“Great atmosphere - lovely meal”
Reviewed October 11, 2012

Would highly recommend the Clubhouse for a meal and overnight stay. We thoroughly enjoyed our few days here and couldn't have had a better break. It has a great atmosphere with its modern decor and most helpful staff.
