This is a fairly recently restored castle which has featured in various films and is a popular venue for weddings, partly because it appears to be miles from anywhere. The exhibits are a little disjointed, but a particularly good area is the recently completed kitchen

Fully agree with some other review. Great place for photography! We got there late in the afternoon in a rather grey and rainy day. The castle itself was pretty interesting, but nothing specially exciting. But the view of the castle sitting on an island in the lake with a nice mountains in the back was great. Really nice place to stop by. The only problem we experienced is that the castle cafe is closed at 3:30 PM and the kids were extremely hungry ...
If you are driving to Isle of Skye please stop at Eilean Donan!

Such a beautiful castle to photograph. The day we visited it was a very warm day. It's so peaceful and a beautiful view. We stopped off here on the way to Skye. Plenty of car parking spaces. We arrived after closing time but still enjoyed sitting beside the water on a beautiful summers day.

I've been wanting to visit Eilean Donan for years and it didn't disappoint. The location itself is wonderful, a beautiful loch with the castle perched on an island just off shore. We visited on a dry but overcast and misty day, the photos look fab!

The exhibits inside were interesting and well thought out. The visitor centre and gift shop were good. It won't detain you for very long, but I think that it's worth the trip. Definitely worth stopping here if en-route to Skye.

Another spot where you can't take pictures inside even without the flash. Bummer Very interesting and has been restored to the last residence. All 19th century furnishings.
