“Great tour and worth the drive”
Reviewed December 18, 2012

Before we came to Eilean Donan we read many of the reviews on trip advisor including the bad ones. We were a bit concerned with what was being said in the poor reviews but after doing the tour can say that the bad press for this place is rubbish.

We drove from fort william to Eilean donan and found the drive to be one of the most picturesque we have been on. Eilean Donan was great, the tour guide was very knowledgable and light hearted. The place itself is amazing and we would have regretted it if we didn't go. The tour goes for about an hour and to be honest it's probably the best time of the year because there are no crowds and you get much more time with the guides attention. One tip: call before you go to make sure there are no weddings on. We did and it was fine but it would be disappointing to do the drive and find out you couldn't go in.

Great tour though, highly recommended!

“Simply beautiful”
Reviewed December 4, 2012

We happened upon this castle driving past at night and it was lit up to give stunning views. As it was closed we did not manage to get inside or see more, but what we did see was well worth it. We drove past it again the next morning to take another look.

“Iconic picture spot”
Reviewed December 2, 2012

Fantastic castle with ample parking just off the main road. Good access and knowledable staff always ready to help with a bit of trivia. you can get some amazing pictures of the castle from the end of the car park. the cafe is worth a visit and you can sit on the mezzanine and look out over the water at the castle.

“Beautiful spot...don't miss the war poem engraving”
Reviewed November 30, 2012

Stunning, if familiar image....no matter how many times we travel up and down that road it still makes us turn our heads to check out.Once you're over that bridge it feels much more like 'far from the madding corwd'/Not a huge amount to see inside but worth just toddling around the exterior.
Don't miss the beautiful, deeply moving poem - or elegy - carved on the memorial to the young men who died in the War....Makes me cry even thinking about the words.
Despite the main road running close by, this is a wonderfully scenic spot and well deserves its accolades.

“Excellant”
Reviewed November 26, 2012

Great Place to visit, the tour guide who we had to ourselves knew everything there was to know. The views from the castle are just amazing and inside was fantastic as well. You wouldn't be able to go around the castle if you had any mobility issues but i don't think you can help that one. Good value at £6.00 each.
