Fresh seafood was the promise but the trawler never came in. Lots of excuses but that was the main promise of the restaurant and it never happened.
The standard fish fare we had in its place was adequate and the staff friendly

We were disappointed that the restaurant wasn't open after we went out of our way to get down to the train station. It isn't open on Mondays. However, we went back the next night and had a fabulous dinner. The seafood chowder was packed with fish, mussels, onions, seasonings and I don't know what else, and it was one of the best things I have ever eaten, bar none. Highly, highly recommend.

This is in the old waiting room/buffet of a working station. The food is mainly seafood - the owners have their own local fishing boat so you know it is fresh. The smoked fish is local too and they have a selection of local whiskies to end your meal. We had good food, good service at a table with a view of the loch until the evening train arrived. The train travels from Inverness on a single track three times a day. Good fun especially for the children. We had lovely chowder and undyed smoked haddock with warm salad... Enjoyed the lot, there were local scallops too. Only downer was the cheap paper napkins.

We had dinner in the Seafood Restaurant last night and thoroughly enjoyed it. The menu had a good range, lots of local produce, something for everyone. Starter of crab tart was fantastic - really tasty and the salad with it was different and very good. Main course of smoked haddock was so tasty, good sized portion. Very pleasant service and the waiting staff were very relaxed about us talking for long after we'd finished our meal.

You're admiring the idiosyncratic surroundings - an old train station waiting room, the old style Royal Scotman train parked up a long side at the platform, and then it dawns on you that after having made your order 20 minutes earlier you still haven't got your drinks.

It was at this moment that I began to suspect things were not going to run as smoothly as the prices had led me to expect.

After 25 minutes a second waitress came to ask our forgiveness for the delay but something had happened between our table and kitchen and things had gone awry. Could she serve us more drinks on the house? How about the drinks we ordered in the first place?

After another long 10 minutes , the drinks finally arrived. Of course you know when your order is gone south when they hurry your starter, you wait longer and they come up with crab cake with no shape.

I ordered the Thai Red Sea food curry and my partner ordered the smoked haddoc and asked if the sweet potato could be replaced with mash potato( which is on the menu). He was told they would try but in the whole mayhem , no luck on the mash too.

Just for future customer satisfaction , I would suggest a finger bowl or wet wipe be given after serving seafood food which clearly involves using fingers !!

All in all a disappointment after reading such great reviews.
