Visited this restaurant on the recommendation of the host in our B&B.
Unfortunately, despite my love of seafood I was dissapointed. The food was indeed fresh and well presented, by attentive staff but the cost was prohibitive. I feel that almost £9.00 for a cheese board with only three very small pieces of cheese is ripping off customers. The meal from the menu cost us £64.00. That was for two starters, two main courses and one cheese board and coffee for two.

Thank you for your comments regarding Crannog Restaurant. We are sorry to hear that you did not fully enjoy your experience with us; your feedback is appreciated and noted.

We try to take great care and attention in the sourcing all of our produce, in particular we source all of our produce from within Scotland. As you can appreciate, this obviously affects our pricing in order for us to be able to serve the best quality fresh food, from as close to our locality as possible.

We do want to provide a good balance with our menu while also offering value for money, and for that reason we have a daily special two course lunch menu for £9.95, which varies depending on the catch landed and the availability of seasonal produce.

September 20, 2009. We had a delicious lunch at the Crannog in Fort Wlliam, complimented by perfect service. The decor is delightful: don't miss the painting of "the seafood market from ancient times to the present." Highly recommend!

Stopped here for lunch on a Saturday, food was very good, main menu was expensive but there was a starter and main deal for £9.95, with a choice of 4 starters and 5 mains. There was no kids menu but the very friendly waitress was happy to arrange a half portion for our daughter, which she really enjoyed.

After car troubles and a late return we decided to try the Crannog, although we were worried that we might have been underdressed. This was not an issue, some people were dressed for dinner, but others were obviously in on the way home and there was even a group of guys wearing the silly highlander hats complete with ginger hair and sideburns. All were treated the same by the staff who were friendly and unpretentious. The seafood is excellent and although the prices are a little on the high side, we certainly did not feel short changed.

I first visited Crannog nine years ago and again two years later. My friends were most impressed when I took them there in 2007 and I recently dined there for the fourth time on the 25-September-2009. It was a Friday, perhaps their busiest night of the week, and we arrived ten minutes late for our 19:00 booking after following a slow bus from Invergarry, but all the staff were, without exception, very professional, friendly and welcoming - the pretty young waitress serving the drinks was particularly appealing - and our Lochside table was waiting for us expectantly.

The quality of the dishes surpassed the excellent standards already set on previous visits, each course was beautifully presented, imaginative and well proportioned and the attention to detail across all aspects of service was unquestionably first-rate, as befits an establishment of this calibre.

The atmosphere is very cosy, particularly in late-autumn winter, and the artwork complements the decor very well. Booking is essential for the evening service, highlighting the popularity of the restaurant, though it has been possible to obtain a suitable table at lunchtimes.

Crannog is certainly one of the finest restaurants I have had the privilege of dining in anywhere in the world and very well deserving of the much coveted origami paper napkin swan award - bestowed only upon the very best restaurants I have visited, the bad ones get chickens.

Everybody visiting the Western Highlands should without doubt visit Crannog, enjoy the food and unrivalled views of Loch Linnhe and tip generously, the quality and service is thoroughly excellent.
