Found this place in the corner of the square while looking around for someplace to eat. Food was very tasty. good rump steak. Service is casual but quick and friendly.

Four of us visted lunch time last Saturday whilst on a great rail journey trip so only a short time in Fort William before a boat trip on the Loch. Found this place by chance and the attentive service and welcome was very refreshing , Our meals which were served very quickly, were fresh and well cooked and presented in the garden room surroundings which were very pleasant. The house white wine that we had by the glass was properly chilled and of good quality. All in all a very good experience and would highly recommend this little gem if you are ever in Fort Wiiliam

It was said this was one of the finest restaurants in the West Highlands so our expectations were up when we dined in No 4. As a starter we had a salmon fish cake and a prawn cocktail. They tasted allright, but nothing more than that. Very soon after we'd finish our starter, the main dishes were served. My boyfriends fish was good, but my lamb was swimming in sauce and the potato mash was lumpy. Our deserts were oke, but again, the bread an butter pudding lay in a swimming pool of a custard kind of sauce. Also our dishes were brought so quickly to us that we have been given the impression that nothing has been freshly prepared.

By the time we got to No 4, we had been to two other restaurants in Fort William where we waited so long for service that we finally gave up. At least they immediately acknowledged our existence at No 4. They were busy, but we were seated fairly quickly and the service was fine. We just had a very simple lunch, soup and sandwiches, which nothing special really, but hit the spot. This is a cute little cafe, tucked away in a corner off the high street. If you just want a quick lunch, this is a good option in Fort William, where many places seem to be understaffed for the busy tourist season.

Had dinner here on a Friday evening after a lengthy drive north. This being our first time in the area, we did not realise the clear necessity to book ahead. Luckily we had recalled favourable reviews for this place which also benefits from being slightly off the main street and therefore not as swamped as other establishments in town: 20 min wait vs an hour. After a short wait, we had a good dinner ranging from steaks to mussels. I'd rate the food average - decent for the price but not outstanding, but gave four starts primarily for the service. I suspect Fort William is a tough place to be in the restaurant business, and credit the staff here for making an effort. Cost for 4 was £110.
