“Could do better”
Reviewed August 4, 2013

This restaurant is in a nice location tucked away from the main high street. It has potential for being a little gem. However, the service was half hearted, we sat down with no menus, 5 minutes later we were given them but no offer of drinks. Waiter was pleasant enough but could have made more effort, in his defence though he was on his own + it had got quite busy. The food was ok but dissappointed by the frozen pasta children's meal. Mains seemed overpriced. Could do a lot better with some more effort by the staff.

“Good Food and prices”
Reviewed August 4, 2013

Good food at reasonable prices. Good for baked potatoes or sandwiches at lunch, with a fuller menu for Dinner. The staff were friendly and helpful, and were happy to mix and match from the different menus, and turn the fish cake starter into a main for the children.

“Very popular place”
Reviewed August 2, 2013

A queue to get in as we had not booked but were soon seated in the lounge area, given the menu & asked if we wanted a drink. Although the place was packed we were soon given a table in the conservatory & food soon followed. Salmon fish cakes were good, steak not the best I've had and a bit over cooked for medium rare but very tasty all served on very hot plates which most restaurants fail to achieve. I can recommend the house red a great wine at a very fair price. The staff kept the momentum with swift service and were very friendly. There was a wide range of people, families couples a big group and the staff all seemed to cope very well, as it was a hot night people were also able to eat outside, a rarity in Scotland after 9 pm in the summer. I would certainly visit again.

“Nice surprise”
Reviewed July 29, 2013

Good food, nicely presented, limited menu but well recommended. Staff friendly and quick. The lamb was lovely, the mussels too, disappointing chips (may have been oven chips) but really a very good pleasant experience

“Cosy wee restaurant”
Reviewed July 29, 2013

One of the best meals i have had for a while. The restaurant was very busy with all the tables full but within minutes of being sat down at a table we were served our starters. Very quick and friendly service and the food was really tasty. Muscles to start off with in a red wine sauce. For mains we had lamb shank with the meat almost falling off the bone (perfect) and the Rump steak which was nice a pink in the middle. Within one hour of sitting down we were ordering desert.
The building has a very cosy feel with the three different sections to it with inside and outide seating as well as a lighter area which was felt summery.
Overall great meal and would recommend it to others
