Owner description: Described as the greatest railway journey in the world, this 84 mile round trip takes you past a list of impressive extremes. Starting near the highest mountain in Britain, Ben Nevis, it visits Britain’s most westerly mainland railway station, Arisaig; passes close by the deepest freshwater loch in Britain, Loch Morar and the shortest river in Britain, River Morar, finally arriving next to the deepest seawater loch in Europe, Loch Nevis!

there is a much cheaper train which does the same route - if we had known about it we would have done that one instead

“FANTASTIC!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 8, 2011

The Jacobite trip was one to always remember. The sceanery was stunning made even more special by the glorious weather we had and the company of the couple opposite us. It was lovely to be able to take lots of photographs for such a memorable day.

“Nostalgia--and Harry Potter!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 7, 2011

What a wonderful journey through quite spectacular scenery. We were lucky to get a beautiful sunny day when the landscape was at its best. The children on the trip were agog at the viaduct and loch where Harry and his pals were filmed. Excellent value.

“Go Scotrail instead”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 6, 2011

Top tip as a local. Take the Scotrail service instead. It runs exactly the same line, is substantially cheaper and you get off at whatever station you want. I recommend Arisaig or Morar. Far nicer than Mallaig.
