Gairlochy Holiday Park
Reviewed June 26, 2014 via mobile

Camped with a group of friends before a walk so location is the biggest plus.

Small space, opposite the toilet block, set aside for tents so suggest booking ahead as during peak season I can image it gets full quickly. We were one of two tents so together with cars there's only room for about three tents in total.

Nothing in the way of other facilities. The play park looked to have seen better days so not much of a selling point really.

All in all very cheap and little bit cheerful. For a four person tent and car it was £24.

Stayed in Lodge no1. We chose Gairlochy Holiday park for its excellent location and to access to the Great Glen Way for a cycling holiday. Upon checking in we were shown personally by Jackson the owner to our lodge for a quick tour of the lodge and equipment etc. He was very polite, and friendly and comforting to know he was around should we need him. The lodges are 'much' more spacious than they look in any photos I have seen and are more than well equipped for all your needs. Very cosy clean lodges, comfy beds and loads of storage. We also paid for a weeks unlimited PAYG internet at £20. The park itself is the type we love... small, quiet and space between you and the neighbours. Wow what a view over the Glen from the veranda! You can see across to the Nevis Range to the left, but if your view of Ben Nevis is important ask for one of the other lodges as the view of Ben is hindered from the veranda of Lodge no1 by a couple of trees on the other side of the parks boundary but it can be seen from upstairs. The bird table on the veranda even entertained our 12yr old. On one occasion we saw 2 Pine Martins there too! We cycled both directions of the Great Glen way, to the right alongside Loch Lochy being the best ride. Go through Fairy Woods along the way for a real surprise! We love this area and come here every year to be nearest to where we want to go next. A great location to the be in the highlands!

Room Tip: Lodges no.2 or 3 better to view Ben Nevis

A lovely stay !. The place is fantastic, very calm and with breathtaking views. Carol and Jackson were very friendly. You have internet access for around 2 pounds per day, a public phone, washer and dryer machine (very cheap) and a lot of leaflets and information. Jackson´s recommendations were súper !! (breakfast at Brewers Fayre, Fort William).
Hope to come back soon, very soon !!

Have been coming here to Gairlochy Holiday Park for 13 years now. Always a lovely warm welcome, like going to live with family. Carol and Jackson can't do enough to make your stay here perfect for you. Spotlessly clean caravans and chalets-have stayed in both and they have everything that you need. Great views and lovely and quiet area. Can't wait to go back again this year.

Just back from a week break in a two bedroomed log cabin. Very comfortable, spacious, clean and wonderful views. Went with our two and a half year old grandson and he loved the cows going passed the cabin in the morning and afternoon. Bird house on the veranda and he spent a lot of time feeding and watching the birds on holiday. There is no shop on site but only a short drive into Spean bridge to get anything you need. A very central location to visit all that we had planned to do. (Highland wildlfe park, Harry potter train journey, annoch mohr gondala and cairngorm chair lift etc) On a rainy day fort william has a fantastic play barn in the nevis centre and next door is a McDonalds. Will defo be back next year.

A friend and I stayed here whilst we were backpacking along the Great Glen Way in June. The site is about a mile of the track. I can't say the reception was especially friendly, but it wasn't rude either. The tent pitches are very stony and it was impossible to get our tent pegs more than half way in. We visited a few days after a bank holiday weekend and the bins opposite our site were overflowing with rubbish. Unfortunately, there is no shop on site, which we foolishly assumed there would be, so we walked the couple of miles to Spean Bridge and had a decent meal and couple of drinks there. Why the site doesn't have a shop selling basic foodstuffs (and the odd alcoholic beverage) is a mystery to me - it would surely be a source of income for them. On the positive side, the toilets and showers were spotlessly clean.
