“Warm welcome”
Reviewed October 4, 2012

We have been to Glenshian for only one night, so our stay was short.
Glenys and Iain welcomed us very kindly, the room was comfortable and the bed was nice and cozy.

Pros:
Very nice and welcoming hosts
Comfortable room and dining room
Beautiful view from the back garden and dining room

Cons:
The location is ok, but not in the center of Fort William. Few minutes drive is needed to get to the center.
Cleanliness needs more attention (some stray hairs were found in shower).

Great rooms, toilets, friendly hosts. Spectacular scenery from conservatory. Excellent breakfast. First time tasted the homemade rhubarb & ginger jam i knew i had to take some home. So Glenys gave us a jar in exchange of some Malaysian banknotes that she has been collecting. What a nice lady she was. Will definitely stay here when i visit Fort William again. Stayed for only a night with a family of 5. Could've been longer if we didn't have other places to go to. :))

My wife and I have just enjoyed an extremely comfortable and restful 4 days in the company of excellent hosts, Iain and Glenys at Glenshian. The house has a beautifully manicured back garden leading down to the towpath along the Caledonian Canal and offers an incredible, uninterrupted panoramic view of the Ben Nevis range. Internally the property is immaculate. We were fortunate enough to occupy the Fern Bedroom which was en-suite and fully appointed [as are the other 2 rooms], and offered us the breathtaking view down the garden to the canal and mountains beyond. The residents lounge is fully appointed with all home comforts including a wood/coal burning fire, flat screen TV [with Sky] and an extensive collection of DVD's and books. Breakfasts in the Conservatory were a treat. Whilst enjoying a 5-star breakfast [what a choice of menu!!], you can enjoy the ever changing mountain views, watch the mists swirling over the Ben and watch a wide variety of garden birds taking advantage of the numerous feeders - one morning we were even treated to an eye level flypast by a sparrow-hawk just in front of the window. Over the years we have stayed in numerous B&B establishments, most of which were very good, but none can compare with the Glenshian experience. Apart from the stunning condition and location of the property, Iain and Glenys are the most hospitable of hosts - not only is the quality of their cuisine and service second to none, they also offer invaluable guidance regarding local amenities [events, facilities, hostelries etc.] and attractions further afield. They always seem to be on hand for a friendly chat accompanied by a pot of fresh tea with shortbreads. Thanks to you both for a wonderful, peaceful stay - we shall be back.

We arrived, after a long journey, to a friendly welcome and hot drink. We stayed in the 'Fern' bedroom which had stunning views across the Caledonian Canal to the Nevis Range. The room had everything you could need and the en-suite was also well equipped. The guest lounge and conservatory provided comfortable and relaxing surroundings with a supply of books, magazines, guides and a television (sky). The only problem we had was deciding what to choose for breakfast!! The choice was so varied and a few extra days there would have allowed us to try more of Glenys' good cooking. Eating breakfast in the conservatory gave us the chance to watch the numerous breeds of birds feeding in the well stocked garden. Through the back garden we found ourselves on the canal banks and only 3 minutes walk from Neptune's Staircase (Amazing to watch). We were made to feel very welcome and Glenys and Iains local knowledge made our visit even more enjoyable. Definitely worth another visit.

Room Tip: Excellent views from Fern Bedroom.

I stayed here this week with my son for the canoe trip along the Caledonian Canal. The house is lovely and ideal for anyone contemplating this trip. It is beautifully kept, the room was en-suite with everything you need definately a home from home feeling, beds were extremely comfortable. The breakfast was delicious with a good choice for all tastes.

We were welcomed with tea and biscuits, and Iain helped us get the boats and the gear into his garage ready for the trip. and likewise to the canal at the start!

We had tried to get two nights but it was already booked. So we kept to the plan and travelled on our original day and spent the night in the car. When Glenys heard that, she said we should have let them know we were in the area and they would have got out an airbed or let us put the tent in their garden.....how good is that!

Iain and Glenys are a lovely couple with a beautiful home, and were helpful with lots information helping me plan the trip.

Thoroughly recommended and I will be back with the rest of my family again.

Room Tip: You can't go wrong here?

Hi, Glad you enjoyed your canoe adventure. You would not like it today - it is lashing down and very windy. It is our pleasure to help you where and whenver we can. Your fellow canoeist made the trip too but not in such good time as yourselves.A few stories to tell. We look foward to meeting the rest of the family. Thanks again. Regards Glenys and Iain
