“Caledonian Canal Challenge”
Reviewed June 14, 2012

We went to Scotland to kayak the Caledonian canal and found the Glenshian Guesthouse to be the perfect place to stay. Ian & Glenys made us very welcome and we had a great view of both the canal and Ben Nevis range. We cannot recommend Glenshian enough, it is very comfortable and the hospitality is outstanding. They also offered a great choice for breakfast.

Room Tip: We stayed in Rose room, it had an en-suite and comfortable bed.

Hi to you both. Thank you for writing your review. It is very much appreciated. See you managed to make it up to the top of Ben Nevis - well done. Next time you are in the area you should come for a more relaxing time and enjoy the many other things to do. See you again Regards Glenys and Iain

Stayed here 6 years ago and so had fond memories of Glenshian, Surprised to find that it is better than I even remember. Little touches abound wherever you look, down to the world travel adapters plugged into the power points. Beds are comfy and it is easy to get a god nights sleep, shower rooms are large and well appointed with all the usual extras. There is no TV in the room but the lounge has a large flat cscreen TV with the TV guide opened at the right daily page on the coffee table!
The breakfast is really nice, but really they could serve mouldy bread and water and you wouldn't notice because the view from the breakfast conservatory is just magical, looking across the Caledonian Canal to Ben Nevis takes your breath away the first time you see it. If you can tear yourself away there are many varieties of birds that come into the garden to the bird feeders scattered around the garden, Chaffinches, Yellowhammers together with all the more common ducks, ducklings, blackbirds, sparrows - the variety is a bird watcher's dream.
Glenys and Iain are wonderful hosts, seemed like an inexhaustible supply of tea was on tap and as already mentioned there are many thoutful touches throughout.
If you are looking for somewhere to stay in Fort William that also won't break the bank then I can thoroughly recommend Glenshian guest house.

Hi to you both, Well I think you have said it all. Just a big thank your for writing your review. Never realised how many different things there are around the house - we like to treat our guests how we would like to be treated ourselves. We enjoyed your company and sorry we couldn't accommodate you for a longer time. Hope you enjoy with West Country. However since leaving here I think you might have run into some rain. The weather is still behaving here. See you again in six years or maybe after the girlie trip to Tuscany. All the best Glenys and Iain

We stayed at Glenshian for 2 nights in May, at the start and end of our Tandem tour of West Scotland. Ian and Glenys made us welcome from the minute we arrived to the minute we left, We were looked after so well, nothing was too much trouble.

The view from the guest lounge is worth the visit alone. The views of Ben Nevis and the Caledonian Canal are just stunning.

If you want to see how a B&B should be run then stay here!

We stayed one night, booking one double for us and one twin for my college aged children, and arrived after returning from the Jacobite (Hogwarts Express) train ride. We were greatly warmly by Glenys and efficiently shown around. Their breakfast room has beautiful large windows which give a panoramic view over the canal and to the mountains. Very peaceful. The bathrooms were immaculate, the towels were huge and fluffy, and the amenities were nice. Except for my daughter's battle with midges, nothing disrupted our night's sleep.
Breakfast was tasty and we especially enjoyed her homemade raspberry and rhubarb preserves.

Room Tip: Fern, the double room closest to the breakfast area, has the strongest wifi signal. The twin room in...

Hi to you all. Thank you for writing your review - it is much appreciated. Glad you enjoyed your stay and that you highlighted some the things you enjoyed when staying with us. One tip when travelling to Scotland in the summer months - close the bathroom window at night to stop the midges coming in!!! Hope you enjoyed the rest of your trip. Good luck to your daughter in her chosen career. Regards Glenys, Iain and Beja

Had a lovely four night stay in May 2012. The rooms were extremely comfortable, the food superb, and a big thank you to Ian and Glenys who looked after us so well, nothing was too much trouble.
Being in a group of six it was lovely to have a lounge area where we could all relax, have a chat, after a day of sightseeing. Breakfast in the conservatory was delightful looking out onto Ben Nevis, the view changed everyday. Hopefully we will return one day but would certainly recommend to others in the meantime.

Hi to you all, My apologies I have just realised that I hadn't replied to your review. Thank for putting your thoughts on paper. So glad you enjoyed the sitting room and conservatory for socialising in the evenings and watching the changing moods of Ben Nevis and the activity on the canal. You can spend many an hour gazing out of the windows. Iain has been out and about photographing the steam train. We will have another publication for you to look again next time you call.
