“Excellent Value”

Accepting that the hotel is undergoing a refurbishment plan, I have to say that the staff were very friendly and accommodating, the rooms were warm and clean with plenty of hot water - sheets and towels equal to 5 star rating - and the food was well above average in both quality and choice. The Ceilidh Band (Saturday night's free entertainment) were excellent, however, cannot say the same for the dancing but we tried! Our party came away having had a lovely break and because of the particular weekend deal, it was excellent value for money.

A group of us (11 in total) spent the Valentines weekend here in the Ben Nevis Hotel and Leisure Club. Right from the start there was a warm friendly welcome form the reception staff. We had booked for dinner bed and breakfast from Friday till Sunday. The value for money was very good. The breakfast buffet was way above average and the dinner on both evenings was very good. Freshly prepared veg and a good choice of main courses, starters and desserts went a long way to satisfying one and all in the party. The Saturday evening entertainment was a ceilidh band who encouraged people to get up and dance. Although the drink did help a bit. The bar prices were comparable to any other hotel charges and the cheery bar staff were quick with the service and attentive. There is an excellent little gym and a good sized pool free of use to clients. Towels were provided. A great way to work up an appetite if the weather turns nasty and you don't want to venture out of doors. The rooms were nice and cosy and had free tea/coffee available. As it was a Valentine weekend a bottle of bubbly was a welcome present from the hotel.
All in all I would recommend this place to stay, especially if you can get one the deals they have throughout the year. Great value for money.

The hotel is large and rambling and a bit confusing. The rooms where we stayed were very clean and comfortable, but in need of refurbishment, as to be honest is a lot of the hotel. It is clear there is an ongoing attempt to update and good on them for it. The pool and jacuzzi are clean warm and nice to use, but not 'spa' quality. The staff were lovely- friendly, efficient and relaced (in a good way) Food was tasty and plentiful, if not haute cuisine. But for the price and time of year- an absolute bargain. I would recommend to others- with caviat of being aware that it is comfortable rather than plush!

Nice hotel on the outskirts of Fort William. Comfortable rooms at very reasonable cost, free wifi and the food in the bar was excellent as well as great value for money. Definitely recommend. The hotel is only minutes away from the Nevis Range ski centre and handy for touristy spots like Glencoe etc.

I stayed here, the first week in February whilst on an ice climbing course in the Ben Nevis/Glencoe area. I was attracted to this hotel primarily for the spa facilities and got a room at a very good rate. Firstly, the spa/gym is excellent. A hot tub, steam room and sauna are all very welcome after a day in the mountains in winter and the swimming pool is a good size too and the gym is adequately stocked with equipment to suit most. It was never particularly busy in the evening times, there were a mix of guests and locals who use the spa facilities. Clean towels and clean showers / changing rooms add to the experience. I was staying in an un-modernised room. It does need updating, such as having a room light by the bed would help, though there are two side lights. The TV is tiny ( 12" i would guess ) though it was a modern lcd. The bed was very comfortable and the linen clean and tidy every day. The bathroom is basic but functional, no frills but everything does the job it should. Took a little while to get hot water through sometimes but not a big issue. Breakfast is fabulous, a great choice of hot and cold dishes and very good table service. Staff all throughout the hotel were very friendly. Some comments do mention the worn carpets in places and a few doors / wooded areas could probably do with a coast of varnish, but although in need of a freshen up the hotel is by no means 'tired'. As with anything you get what you pay for and I felt I got excellent value for money. The room I had was not particularly large, room for a double bed with side cabinets, a wardrobe and desk in front of the bed. Enough room to move around certainly, with floor storage in front of the bathroom hallway.I cannot comment on the modernised/refurbished rooms, but would recommend this hotel and would stay here again when in the area.

My son & I were heading to the Hebrides and needed to stop for a night on the way up from the car ferry terminal at Cairnryan.

We had thought of staying at the Premier Inn but the rooms that they had left were expensive.

Originally, we booked a twin room but decided on the way to see if they had two single rooms.

On arrival, we checked and they did and at the very reasonable price of £37.00, including breakfast.

The rooms were on the first floor at the back of the hotel and you could see the snow clad mountains beyond the flat roofs of the hotel and the large [and empty] service yard. Because of their location, they were very quiet.

OK the room was quite small but it had a 4'6" double bed and it was clean and had been recently redecorated - amenities included a flat screen television and tea/coffee making facilities, neither of which I used.

The bathroom was also small but was very clean and had loo, basin and a smallish bath with shower over. There was a good range of toiletries and plenty of towels.

We went out to meet with friends for dinner, but breakfast in the huge dining room in the morning, was fine, with a substantial buffet, hot food and an a la carte option as well. A very pleasant waiter brought us tea and coffee.

So yes and as other reviewers said, it is looking a bit tired and the stair carpet is worn. However, it is clean, comfortable, warm, has very pleasant and friendly staff and offers exceptional value for money.

I would not recommend it for a long stay, but for one night it was pretty good!

Room Tip: Quieter at the back

Stayed here in early 2014 for just one night. Almost didn't because it had quite a few negative reviews. I thought it was great. Fair enough, the carpet on the stairs might want replacing, and it's not a brand new boutique hotel. The staff were friendly and helpful, the room was clean and quiet and newly decorated (I'd say). Bathroom clean and fresh. I used the pool and sauna and steam room. All very good. (Sauna could maybe do with being hotter, but that is being very picky.) Didn't use the gym, but it seemed well appointed with modern kit. Breakfast was fine - have probably had better, but for the cost I thought it an excellent option in a great location. If I had to fault it, the pillows were maybe a little thin. Again, that is looking for fault - I still slept well.
