Our stay at the Cruachan could not have been better. We booked a quad room - accessible on the third floor with a walk in shower. The room was big, looked like it had once been two rooms conjoined so each set of twin beds/superking bed gets relative privacy. This was ideal as staying with both my husband and mum! The hotel is recently refurbished and has been done beautifully. The views from the front of the hotel are second to none- my husband and I enjoyed a drink in the lounge most evenings. The inclusive breakfast is delicious and the hotel strikes the correct balance between informal and a home away from home and a good quality hotel.

Would definitely return.

Restaurant is also delicious.

Found a great deal for this place on hotels.com, and were delightfully surprised by how good it was-- clean, modernized in tasteful ways, comfortable. Excellent breakfast and dinner experiences-- again, surprisingly great dinner options, nicely prepared. Friendly and helpful staff. The location is a bit of a walk from High street, but doable if the weather's kind. We took a short taxi to get to the train station with all our luggage.

Room tip: You can request a room with a view of the water-- very atmospheric-- but the back is quieter

I honestly cannot say enough good things about this hotel!! We stayed for three nights with our 15 month old, and the experience was wonderful. Our room (deluxe family suit) was right in the front and overlooked the Loch and the mountains. They have CLEARLY put a lot of money into renovating, and it shows. The modern rooms came with nice touches like USB charging ports next to every bed, still water replenished daily and tea snacks in the room. We ate breakfast and dinner at the restaurant every day because it was so good we wanted more!!! The food is so delicious! The staff was amazing as well! They made traveling with a toddler so much easier by keeping her entertained while we ate. Absolutely love the hotel and would stay here again in an instant!

I made a reservation to stay in this hotel via Booking.com let me tell you that I have booked hotels this way numerous times - hundreds.. and never ever has this happened to me before.
It took us 12 hours by road to arrive in Fort William for one nights stay before our Jacobite train trip the following morning.

All we wanted to do was check in, eat and relax.
We did not have enough beds in our two rooms to cover our party.
The hotel would have known our numbers, so evidently the deception and getting more money out of us started before we had started on our journey.
The Indian man on reception was extremely unhelpful and rude he had no empathy for us at all. He said that we would have to move rooms and pay an extra large amount of money another £99 on top of what we had paid already.

I was horrified and shocked we felt ambushed.
The hotel was lack lustre something was definitely missing the energy of the place was not nice - felt this before the daylight robbery..
It didn't feel like we were in Scotland in that hotel not one local accent to be heard. Its way out of the town too.
Ok it was clean, warm and the breakfast was well - just average.
Would not stay here again the lesson here meant that I have and will continue to liase with the hotels I book with on Booking.com and check the price is the price and the beds will be the correct amount.
I suggest that guests do the same.. This really was a very upsetting experience and not the Scottish welcome we had hoped to get.
