If you like take away fish and chips then this shop does it great. Try the special fish in bread crumbs. Loads of other stuff to choose from on the menu. Usually cooked fresh while you wait. If its nice weather follow one of the roads opposite the shop to the waterfront and Loch Linnhe and enjoy the view while eating your food.

The place is always busy, very popular with the locals. Food always fresh and fish can be cooked to order. Friendly staff and a fast efficient service. You wont be disappointed.

My chips were limp. The haddock batter was soft and soggy. Nothing special about my meal.

If all of the other reviews are correct then I must have turned up when the apprentice was frying.

Sammy's is in the Caol area of Ft William, a takeaway fish and chip shop that also boasts a large counter dedicated to the sale of sweets and cigarettes.

Good things

1. Tasty haddock, chips and mushy peas
2. Extensive menu
3. Clearly popular with local people
4. Characterful design on the bespoke boxes for the fish and chips
5. To a tourist, a fascinating snapshot of Caol life

Not-so-good things

1. It's tricky to find unless you know where you're going

The fish was substantial and tasty. A reviving meal, perfect after a longer than expected day on the hills...
