Owner description: We are a museum set in Cameron Square which is just off of the centre of Fort William High Street. We have eight rooms packed with fascinating objects, from treasure from a shipwrecked Spanish Armada galleon to the bagpipes played at Bannockburn in 1314. Whether its archaeology, natural history, Commando training and weaponry, Highland crofting life, costumes and charms, Victorian times, silver, coins and medals, or even the history of mountain rescue, it can all be found at the West Highland Museum.

This museum is free and it's a nice little museum. There are some wonderful exhibits and a good film.
There are different sections, but you are given a map when you enter so you can refer to that for where to go and what you are looking at.
It does not take long to go through and it's worth a visit.

Its FREE to visit and while it looks small from the outside it really is full of a huge range of interestin memorabilia and artifacts from the region. Learned lots about the Commandoes on the one hand and Jacobites on the other. Well worth a visit.

The museum was very informative, providing history about the highlanders through the Jacobites to the history of the commandos during WW2.

The museum was very busy with visitors so you did have to be cautious. I thoroughly enjoyed the history and I thought the best was the commandos section. There are a lot of artefacts which are all very impressive and I believe the museum is using the space to the of their ability. It is well worth a visit.
