Owner description: We are a museum set in Cameron Square which is just off of the centre of Fort William High Street. We have eight rooms packed with fascinating objects, from treasure from a shipwrecked Spanish Armada galleon to the bagpipes played at Bannockburn in 1314. Whether its archaeology, natural history, warfare and weaponry, highland crofting life, costumes and charms, victorian times, silver, coins and medals, or even the history of mountain rescue, it can all be found at the West Highland Museum.

“Loved it.”

I was in your area just the past month and altho it was raining and on a Sunday and could not see the museum the stores and shops that we open were very kind and friendly. I have a special reason to be there as my family was born there and came to Canada in 1803. I was looking for help in finding someone that could help me with that. Ajewery store with a young girl working was very kind to us. . Any information is this regard would be appreciated. Hope to go back there again. Thank you

It is a shame that you visited on the day the museum is closed. If you contact Lochaber Archive they may be able to give you advice on how to trace your ancestors email to: lochaber.archives@highlifhighland.com
