Owner description: We are a museum set in Cameron Square which is just off of the centre of Fort William High Street. We have eight rooms packed with fascinating objects, from treasure from a shipwrecked Spanish Armada galleon to the bagpipes played at Bannockburn in 1314. Whether its archaeology, natural history, Commando training and weaponry, Highland crofting life, costumes and charms, Victorian times, silver, coins and medals, or even the history of mountain rescue, it can all be found at the West Highland Museum.

This was unexpectedly interesting and with free entry (donations appreciated) it was great value. Allow an hour for a good visit.

“Enjoyable”
Reviewed October 16, 2012 via mobile

A little gem in Fort William but I love museums the entrance guy had a wealth of information and please listen to him before you look around the part about how the Jacobites toasted the king using a reflection beggars belief but I don't see them doing an exhibit in the near future of the most notorious person in the glen not the Cambells or King William of of Orange that ordered the Campbell's killed but the Jimmy Savilles cottage lying in ruins
