“Good hotel with views ove Loch Linnhe”
Reviewed July 6, 2013

Like other contributors I think that th 2 star rating does not do the hotel justice - I can only guess that it is restricted to 2 stars because there is no lift to the upper floors.
On arrival as members of and Alfa tour we found the reception staff friendly and efficient. We had a room with an excellent loch view on the second floor. The room was quite adequately furnished but a little small. There was a hair dyer, ketlle and a TV with all the Freeview channels.
The WiFi is free in public areas but I got an excellent signal from one of the hotel's three hubs in our room. The quality of the WiFi is very good, unlike some other hotels we have stayed in recently.
There is a bar attached to the restaurant but stays open well after the restaurant closes. Bar prices are slightly expensive compared to bars in the town but the hotel is about two and a half miles out of the town centre so this is not unexpected. Bar service is generally good - as some others have noted the barman does double as a bingo caller for about half an hour each evening but there were always other bar staff. The bar entertainment was good - different entertainers for each night of our stay.
The restaurant follows a set weekly menu with plenty of choice generally. Breakfast was good as it is in most Leisureplex hotels. Dinner was enjoyable every night of our stay. Our waitress was suberb.
There is a bus stop outside the hotel with an hourly service into Fort William - the fare into town was £1-95 single or £3-40 return so if there's more than one of you a taxi costing about £6. each way is worth considering.
All in all an excellent place to stay in Fort William.

Room Tip: A l,och view is a must. Ask for a ground floor room if you have any mobility problems.

This hotel is a 2 star but should have more stars I think, the meals were great & service was very good. Views of the Loch and the Nevis ranges were spectacular although some mornings there was a lot of mist about. My bedroom was a double and very nice and bed was comfy.Bathroom, shower & toilet was nice & clean. I would tell anyone going there that this is the place to stay even though it is about a mile from Fort William

This hotel is apparently only 2 star but I suspect this is because it does not have a lift. Apart from this it is very much a 3 star hotel. The rooms are standard. Ours had a newly tiled bathroom with good shower, plenty of hot water and good pressure. Rooms have hairdryer, digital TV, tea and coffee facilities. Views from many rooms are of the loch (Linne) and are stunning. Food is simple but well prepared and with a good choice. Every day's dinner menu is different. They also do a packed lunch for a very reasonable price but you need to order the evening before. The staff here are truly exceptional. Reception staff were genuinely interested in answering questions and solving problems. The restaurant staff were brilliant. Food was seved quickly and pleasantly. Any requests for variations in the menu were dealt with sympathetically and usually successfully.
If this hotel has a down side it is its rather 1970s appearance. Public rooms and bedrooms are furnished in dark wood which obviously gives a dark appearance. We had good sunny weather but it might look a bit depressing in the rain (apparently it can rain in Fort William). The dining room however has a lot of plaster moulding which has been skillfully applied and which makes the room appear quite opulent.
There is a bus stop immediately outside the hotel (to Fort William)

Room Tip: Ask for one with a view of the loch. Worth every penny. The rooms on the higher floors have the best...

Really disappointing apart from the superior views. Restaurant closes at 19:00 after 5 hour drive we were ready to eat but arrived at 20:00 - no pre warning! A bar was being used for bingo when returned from our enforced trip into town to find a restaurant. The only barman was also calling the bingo and so we had to wait until game over before being served. Poor service at breakfast "full breakfast yes or no!" a tired old hotel populated by old people on a coach tour

Room Tip: Avoid this one!

I have recently returned from a holiday to Fort William, where I stayed at the delightful Croit Anna hotel. The hotel is situated ovelooking the loch and the views were beautiful.
We had a lovely twin room which was both clean and comfortable. The food was exceptional. We are both vegetarian and usually dont have much choice, so we were pleased by the different vegetarian options available, which were all delicious :)
The staff were all friendly and helpful and they all made our stay an enjoyable one.
I would certainly recommend this hotel to others.

On our arrival the check in was easy and organised. The cases were taken up to the room soon after arrival. A spotlessly clean room. The staff couldn't do enough for us. A good selection of tasty food all served piping hot. Our waitresses very efficient. Evening entertainment. Just don't know how they can do it for the price. Congratulations to all at Croit Anna Hotel.
