We have just returned from this hotel. All the staff are very helpful. Hotel warm and food good. They catered for my gluten free diet so well. I would certainly go back. Although its approx 3 miles outside Fort William its location is lovely.

Room Tip: Its worth paying extra for a scenic view.

Spent the weekend with Caledonian Travel at this Hotel and had an enjoyable stay. The service was great, the staff were very friendly and obliging.
The food was standard fare with no frills but was hot, tasty and plentiful.
Entertainment was good, enjoyable and the 4 free drink vouchers per night helped the pocket.
The views of the Loch are terrific if you have a front room and great if you get a widow seat for breakfast.
On the downside its about 11/2 miles outside Fort William and a little more than a gentle stroll to the town. We were in room 102 and our friends in 104 and the smokers gathered outside our windows, we have left a complaint.
Other than that no problem with the room itself very clean, well kept and had an ironing board and iron in the room.

WOULD RECOMMEND CALEDONIAN TRAVEL COACH TOURS AND THE HOTEL

Room Tip: Front rooms have a great view, keep clear of rooms next to the ramp as smokers gather there.

Thank you for posting your review. I am pleased that in general your enjoyed your break at the Caledonian Hotel. We will address the issue with the guests smoking outside those windows; the smoking area is to the other side of the front door and should not have affected your rooms.

Traveled to this Hotel end of Feb 2013. They value for the break was very good, including all the trips and the drinks package. However the Hotel was like most 2/3 star Hotels in the UK and was in need of some refurbishment. Considering we were in Scotland in the middle of winter there was not any form of heating in the bathroom,it made showering a quick in and out, The food was eatable but nothing exceptional. I would not stay there again.

Room Tip: Even room numbers give you a Loch view

Thank you for taking the time to post your review. As you say we are in need of some refurbishment and there is a program of works in hand. Unfortunately our bathrooms do not have central heating. I am pleased you found the break to be good value and that you enjoyed the drinks package and your trips. Once again thank you for posting your review.

We spent a 5 day midweek break with shearings in February ,we found the room which was on the ground floor very clean and comfortable ,towels changed each day. one little niggle the mattress in room 120 was bumpy so did not sleep too well, but apart from this everything else, food, friendly staff ,entertainment , trip's out, our driver Dave, drink's vouchers, excellent value for money, Oh yes and also the lovely people we met which helped to make our holiday so enjoyable

Room Tip: Best views are front rooms on upper floors

Spent a 4 day break with National Holidays Feb 22-25th The hotel and staff were all helpful.
Our room 406 faced onto Loch Linnhey what a view, clean crispd sheets, white fluffy towels, plenty hot water, lots of space in the bathroom, soap supplied but that's all.
Resturant with plenty options both at breakfast and at dinner, staff tidy friendly and clean.
Bar area clean and plenty of choice to use our 4 drinks vouchers, entertinment and bit naff but it was something.
Donna and her team were always on hand to help and offer advice.
The trips were excellent and really interesting well done Bill our driver.
Great weather only snow on the mountains 6inches in Newcastle the same weekend.
The down side is Fort William has Sunday closing but a 40 minute walk along the road to the hotel fills in some time, really a good holiday well worth the trip.

Room Tip: High floor facing the Loch

Wen't there on a long weekend got a nice room overlooking the loch so the views were excellent, room was cleaned daily with fresh towels, meals were all good quality and nicely presented with a reasonable choice at each sitting. Entertainment each night was OK the price of drink at the hotel bar was a bit on the dear side. Over all I enjoyed my weekend as the weather was good that weekend and there's loads of sightseeing to do within easy traveling distance. Would go back to this hotel again as its a great base to tour from.

Room Tip: Ask for a room at the front of the hotel as the views across the loch is lovely to wake up to in the...

Unless you are part of a bus tour you would do well to avoid this hotel.
Although the bedrooms are clean and comfortable they are rather small but the public areas are scruffy to say the least. A refurbishment would not go amiss. The food is of an acceptable standard for a budget hotel.
However the staff are sullen, occasionally abrasive, and short on numbers. The (expensive) bar is about thirty feet long but was manned by only one person when two coach loads of passengers were being accommodated in the hotel. This bar person made customers queue in bus stop fashion in order to be served. It was a long queue!. No distinction was made between potentially profitable cash paying customers or "all inclusive" customers who, as is human nature, made the most of it and kept the queue long. The experience is not one I want to repeat. Another staff member was on permanent glass collection/cleaning duties. Muti tasking, involving serving drinks, would have helped.
It is also worth bearing in mind that this hotel is a two mile walk along a narrow footpath adjacent to a busy "A" road from Fort William. Transport of some kind is essential.

Room Tip: The front can suffer from traffic noise.

Thank you for taking the time to post your review. I am sorry you were not satisfied with your stay. From previous comments about our food I feel the standard of our food is more than just “acceptable” but I understand peoples’ tastes differ. Our bar is very busy but we do not make a distinction on whether a guest is paying by cash or voucher, we serve everyone in order, queuing unfortunately is a fact of life sometimes. However, we will address the issue of the second member of staff serving as well as collecting glasses as this will help the overall service.
