I stayed for 1 day and really enjoyed its ambience, efficient and courteous staff, excellent location with its own parking. Most ideal place to stay in Fort Williams. I recommend it to everybody.

We checked into the Imperial Room (no. 19) and the room was nice and clean. However, despite the warm summer of 2010 they had the room heating on and the manager was very reluctant to turn it off. In fact we got a lot of different explanations but no solutions.

Their policy was that rooms must be 25-28 degrees (celsius that is) during summer otherwise Mediterranean people would complain and they had NEVER had any complaints about the issue before.

So unless you like to spend your night in a bad sauna - go somewhere else. Could be okay during winter as the last option before driving to Inverness. The manager is quite sensitive to being criticized. Do NOT expect to get helped.

we trawled the hotels of Fort william at 930 with two small children looking for a room, and a good deal for a late, unp;anned overnight stya on the way home. It was onkly in the Best western Imperial that we found an outstanding manager who was willing to not only give us a very good rate but also kept the restaurant open so we could eat and accomodated us on everything at breakfast too. If ONLY other hoteliers in scotland had the business sense, flexibility and attention to customer service that Mr Singh ( I hope i have the name right- apologies if not!) has, the country, and its tourist industry, would be an even better place!!

We arrived tired and hungry about 10pm Thought we"d at least get a snack in the bar. No. Best we could get was a bag of crisps We got our drinks and sat down. Hardly had we sat down before we were asked to move next door as thevsofas were very comfortable and the bar was closing. Reluctantly we obliged. No sooner had we sat down then the staff turned the lights off and we were left in the dark. There are no lifts in this overpriced fawlty towers establishment. The room was dowdy and cramped. The bathroom was ok. Breakfast was rushed and we felt we were obviously in the way and an inconvenience if you didn't hang on to your cup it was taken away. We also learned from another elderly guest that she was left to struggle up the stairs with her luggage. Shame on you imperial hotel staff if you continue treating your customers with contempt they won't come back. We only stayed the night thank goodness

The service in this hotel is practically non existent - information was only given if we asked a specific question, although the female receptionist was pleasant. The room was dull and the furniture mismatched (the bathroom was the best part). The breakfast was extremely poor - and to add insult to injury we had to pay an extra £2.50 for a 'kipper' - I've eaten better and bigger from the frozen food cabinet (we hoped for local fish!)

It has been the most expensive best western hotel of our journey in Scotland. Even when we visited other cities as Edinbourg, we spent less money to sleep in other best western having the same quality level. The parking lot was really very limited. You need to ask for a written permit that you have to put on your dashboard. The room was small but clean. It was too noisy (we were hearing a flushing water continously). When we asked for a room change they simply ignored our request. The money we spent there, was not really worthy. They can require high tarifs due to the lonesome location in the Scottish highlands.

The hotel is nearly next to the lock (the A82 is next to the Loch - a major planning mistake) and near the middle of town with its places to eat and drink. The hotel is of wooden construction and stud walling is used through out therefore can be quite noisy. I found the room acceptable except that toilet was difficult to flush - these basic type of things should be checked daily by the chamber maid. The room over looked Loch Linnhe and the A82 which is the second main route up Scotland. The newly refurbished bath room was cold due to the tiled marble floor & the only heat was provided by a towel rail so not the best of places to take a shower in the morning. Leaving the worst to last was the breakfast. The the staff of the hotel are not Scottish or English and therefore did not understand how to fry eggs or bacon. After ordering (which was strange in itself - breakfasts at hotels are usually buffets) I wondered why other people had ordered scrambled eggs. When the food was delivered the so called fried eggs were solid like rubber and the poached eggs were just the same; the bacon was tough and rest was not much better. Because of the breakfast we did not stay go there for dinner, which was Indian and leaves me to think the person who cooked the breakfast cook was not English. No lift.
