Don't get me wrong, this is a beautiful hotel. The common rooms, in particular, are very beautifully and tastefully appointed. But our " suite" was a bit past its prime in terms of furnishings. A bit worn at the edges. It was lovely and big with wonderful views, but just a bit sad. The food was also wonderful. But again, not really as grand as anticipated. Given the hefty price tag (£750 for DB&B), I didn't really think it was worth it. Have had nicer meals and nicer rooms for much less. They did have live music during dinner, which was very nice. Also, the staff were lovely and very helpful. The grounds were magnificent. But again, at that price, everything should have been perfect.

Stayed for one night in June as a special treat. Sorry for delay in reviewing but have had a busy few months. The sun was shining when we arrived! The Hotel is absolutely magnificent and the gardens and grounds breathtaking. Lovely private lochan and we went out on rowing boat which was free of charge for guests.Staff extremely polite, helpful, friendly and professional. Excellent service with wonderful attention to detail. Food excellent. Had a light lunch in drawing room which was lovely and reasonably priced. Tasting menu in restaurant at night was also very enjoyable and breakfast was perfect. Relaxing atmosphere. Games room upstairs with a snooker table. Library / reading room. Wonderful views from all aspects of the hotel. Booked a standard double room as no upgrades were available so was slightly concerned that it would be small but it wasn't. It was lovely with a separate dressing area and beautiful large en suite bathroom with luxury toiletries, soft fluffy towels and bathrobes. Turndown service placed fresh flowers and bottled water in room and plush comfy slippers. Newspaper delivered to room in morning. We knew it would be expensive but definitely worth the money. We had a wonderful stay and couldn't fault anything. Hope we can return. A unique and special experience. Read some negatives reviews which is bewildering. A big thank you to manager Jane and her team for a perfect stay.

We stayed there for a night during our driving tour in Scotland, and I must say this is the most charming hotel. The surrounding was beautiful with the view of the lake right outside our window. The room was huge and very victorian. Toiletries were really pleasant too! The service we received during dinner service was lovely and we thought they have a really wide and great selection of whiskey! I had the very last dram of a 18 yr old Glen Scotia and was a pity I couldn't find any of the bottles to bring home anymore.

Would love to be back someday!

A truly remarkable Scottish Castle. Our stay at the castle was one of the highlights of our vacation in Scotland. Staff was outstanding and went out of their way to ensure the guests received great customer service. The food was excellent and dinner was truly a memorable experience. We loved the cocktails in the living room before dinner. The grounds of the castle were incredible. There were many walks around the castle that were fun and interesting. Jane Watson, the hotel manager helped retrieve a piece of luggage that we accidentally left behind in Inverness. We would highly recommend this hotel and will definitely come back during our next stay in Scotland.

Last year, we went to Ireland and found the Achford Castel fantastic.
Zo we decided to find a look like location rto stay in Schotland and found Inverlochy Castel. The pictures were great... the price higher. Could only be better....
The expectation was high... the disappointment also...

Room tip: As low as possible and ask for a water view
