Don't get me wrong, this is a beautiful hotel. The common rooms, in particular, are very beautifully and tastefully appointed. But our " suite" was a bit past its prime in terms of furnishings. A bit worn at the edges. It was lovely and big with wonderful views, but just a bit sad. The food was also wonderful. But again, not really as grand as anticipated. Given the hefty price tag (£750 for DB&B), I didn't really think it was worth it. Have had nicer meals and nicer rooms for much less. They did have live music during dinner, which was very nice. Also, the staff were lovely and very helpful. The grounds were magnificent. But again, at that price, everything should have been perfect.
