Well received at this B&B. Friendly owners who gave some good tips on what to see and where to eat. The bed was a little soft and hard on the back but the room was clean, nicely decorated and warm. Enjoyed a hearty breakfast with a dram of whisky. Minutes from the city centre, we had a lovely time.

The place is just a couple of blocks from the restaurants and shopping in the town center. I stayed in the twin room. The building is old, and the windows leaky, but we stayed warm enough. Not the most up to date decor, and the room was a bit small, but that was fine, since I didn't spend much time there. The private bath was down the stairs. Breakfast was very good, and the hostess very helpful. I would definitely stay here again.

after setting off at 5am on a long drive from hull via oban we arrived at 6.00pm in fort william.
and was looking forward to a cup of tea in our room. we were met by jim and shown to the room (2) it was spacious enough, warm and had all the usual tea/coffee/biscuits. (funnily not shortcake). it also had 2 bottles of red and white wine, which went down well.
breakfast is by listing what you want the night before a choice of 4 cereal and 5 cooked, there was also a good veggie selection, plus yougurts and fruit. the cooked breakfast was big enough and really nice. they also do a rather nice fishcake for breakfast.
just 1 critisism the bed was very hard and we both had trouble sleeping, but it could have been too soft, its all each persons preference this isn't to detract from the b and b.
this is a good value place to stop as its a very short but steep walk to town. max 10 mins to the railway station where we went on the jacobite steam train.

Great place to stay! Located on a quiet street just 5 min from the city centre. We felt like being at home, nice room, wonderful breakfast and very friendly and helpful hosts. It is very convenient to go for a hike around Glen Nevis.
We will surely come again! And stay longer then!

Gowan Brae House is perfectly location for exploring Fort William by foot and by car. Located on a quiet street with stair access to the touristy section of Fort William, the lack of traffic makes for a restful night. Ann was the perfect host and the breakfasts each morning were delicious and large. Our room had creaky floors, but that's expeced for the age of the house. We had a view of Loch Linnhe from our room (Room 1, a twin room).

Room Tip: My mom and I stayed in the twin room (Room 1) with separate, but private bathroom. Located on the f...

Very convenient, tucked away in the hill over Fort William in a quiet street yet just 5-minute walk to the town centre. Our room was perfectly clean and it had everything we needed. Freshly cooked breakfast was excellent. It was a really good value for money, much better than staying in one of the soulless hotels. Maybe one small criticism; we couldn’t work out how to switch off the heating, which was on all evening as well as the morning. As a result we had windows open, which seemed like a complete waste of energy (and money for the owners.)
