Only here 7 nights and now been 3 times. Excellent beer, good well priced food and very welcoming friendly staff. Many will find the starters sufficient as main course.

We were traveling via train and bus on a Sunday between Glasgow and the Isle of Skye--and not too much was open. However, we were fortunate to find the Grog and Gruel open and within an easy 10 minute walk from the train station. (The bus stop is just down the hill from the train station--alongside the supermarket.) I had a great vegetarian hagas and refreshing ale. The town was very, very quiet on this Sunday fall afternoon, but we enjoyed the stop.

Quiet Monday lunchtime drink and food whilst on holiday here. No other pubs in Fort William take dogs, which really makes me think twice about coming back up this way - however, the G&G makes up for it.

Good menu for bar food - all reasonably priced and good quality. Nice selection of real ale and Scottish lager. Service good and staff friendly. And best of all, the dogs can join us.

Other Fort William pubs take note - many of your potential punters will have dogs given the excellent walking round here. To bar dogs from your pubs is short sighted and detracts from the appeal of the area. Well done to the Grog and Gruel for a great welcome and all round nice lunchtime beer.

A great little dog friendly pub in the heart of Fort William. A great selection of beer (not for the dog) and very nice pub grub too. The staff were fabulous and gave our dog a bowl of water before serving us. A lovely welcoming pub.

Cold wet afternoon and a cold welcome. The beer was reasonable and reasonably priced, the food looked and smelled reasonable, all in all, no better than reasonable thanks to indifferent staff.

Thank Tom L
