“Good deal!”

Not very expensive, we stay for one night in that hostel that is very well located and easy to find. The atmospher about the Ben nevis is nice in this hostel. Very calm, we slept very well on our way to the Northern Highlands!!
That's of course not a B&B neither a luxury hotel but the price worth it!!

Although it was close to the city centre we did not enjoy taking our bikes up the hill! The reception was not open, no where to store bikes safely, people ariving in the middle of the night, nasty showers so we didnt bother, no storage for clothes/bags, glad to go somewhere nicer!
Advice to the owners: spend some money on those bathrooms and sort out the bunk ladders- very tricky/sore on the feet. More reception staff would be helpful.
Ft William was a bit of a dive anyway, go to Ft Augustus instead its beautiful with better hostel facilities or inverness with more to do.

After walking the West Highland Way, sleeping in a tent for 8 nights, this was a great hostel to sleep our first night in a bed again! We got a twin room, the only thing that was still available. Very warm and cosy interior. Guitar and djembe ready to play on. When we checked out we asked directions for a car rental center, and while we were having breakfast, the staff already came with the printed directions. Just everything a hostel should be.

We stayed at Fort William Backpackers for only one night. The place was very warm and friendly, it was run by only one guy who was very nice. The atmosphere was very welcoming, and everybody was kind.
We stayed in a six bed dorm on the ground floor. At first sight the beds seemed comfortable, but then we realized they consisted of a thin layer of foam rubber on a board. One of the "matresses" had some kind of wavy texture which was very creepy. There were no sockets in the dorms and you had to leave your mobile phone charging in the corridor.
Breakfast was not included, but there was free coffee and tea. The kitchen was nice and tidy.
It was 5 minutes away from the bus/train station and the main street. But the hostel was on a hill and to get there there was a very steep slope. However the views were excellent.
This hostel is surrounded by nature and I recommend it especially if you are a backpacker.

The hostel was okay, but considering we paid £40 for a twin room I expected more.

The location is great and staff friendly.

However it is quite worn and not particularly clean. The cycle storage advertised is a shed with little room that didn't have a lock. So our bikes were not very secure. Also advertised free tea, coffee and hot chocolate but there wasn't always milk available.

There are only 3 showers in the hostel, but we didn't actually have a problem being able to use them.

Have just returned from Scotland - stayed at this hostel for 2 nights. Was pleasantly surprised by the standard o the place. Easily worth the money and a great base for exploring the local area. Wi-Fi access found to be extremely useful and connected with no problems. Recommend for a budget trip away!

I booked here for one night by telephone. I arrived at 1pm and was told by a guy wearing only a towel that I couldn't check in until 5pm. I asked what I was supposed to do until then and I was told that I could leave my bags in the hallway and 'chill' in the living room. They don't have anybody on reception for several hours during the day so you're pretty doomed if you arrive then. Amazingly at 5pm it was the same towel guy on reception but he didn't even remember us! We decided to go elsewhere because we weren't made welcome and anyway it didn't seem safe,
