“Delightful B & B in a beautiful setting!”
Reviewed October 26, 2013

The pictures do not do justice to the large family room with BIG en-suite. We were very comfortable and perfectly placed to hike Glen Nevis, see waterfalls, explore more of the coast and Glen Coe. Graeme was very knowledgeable and helpful to all--he knew about weather and trail conditions at the top of Ben Nevis, all the local train and bus schedules, where Harry Potter had been filmed, and had great ideas for what do to if it rains. And I'd like to point out for the Americans that the bathroom did NOT have double taps, just a lovely adjustable single tap--that's right, it was possible to wash your hands without scalding them! (I have no idea why the UK so loves separate hot and cold taps but it's one of those little things that can drive you bonkers--I hate being either burned or frozen.) Anyway, our entire family enjoyed our stay and we'd HIGHLY recommend Ben Nevis Guest House!

Room Tip: Ground floor family room was roomy and quiet.

Really nicely appointed B&B, with friendly helpful hosts. The beds had little cuddly toys sitting between the cushions, which I thought was a nice touch. Chocolate biscuits with the tea tray too!
Breakfast was spot on - a menu was provided to make your selection the night before, including their own free range eggs (delicious!). Breakfast is served in the conservatory, which was light & airy.
When we mentioned we were thinking of going on the steam train to Mallaig, our host recommended that we got to the station before 9am to join the queue, which we did - without his help, we wouldn't have got tickets.
We left early on our departure day, and we were kindly provided with a packed breakfast for the train - given we only mentioned this the evening before we departed, I thought that was excellent service.
Maybe it's not the most centrally located, but that meant no traffic rumbling past the door, and it's only 10 minutes walk down into town.
I would certainly stay here again.

There were two places we really enjoyed staying in when we did the WHW - the first B&B and this one (the last one!)

It was clean and modern, with tv's in room; free good quality wifi; and a shower in our room

The hosts were very welcoming and very helpful, advising us when to queue for the steam train tickets and providing (without prompting) a packed breakfast when we said we were off early to the station when we left

We stayed two nights and the breakfast provided on our first morning was top notch - fresh fruit; cereal and a Scottish breakfast

The position is not central (more than 1.5 km) but this guest house is really nice! Very good breakfast and kind owners. In addition, the room had new, colourful furnitures and was clean, without sensations of dust. I suggest it if somebody wants to deep in Highlands environment.

We had an excellent stay at this warm and welcoming B & B. Our kids (aged 9, 12, 15) didn´t want to leave. Our room was a family room with 5 beds, of which one was a bunkbed. The room felt spacious and was very pretty and clean. Janet and Greame were excellent hosts and so sweet to our children. If you have kids who are the least in to Harry Potter, this is definitely the place to stay at - Greame has actually served some of the actors...! And don´t miss out of Janet´s porridge for breakfast, absolutely delicious!
Thank you so much for everything!

We stayed here 2 nights - immediately after West Highland Way and one night after going up Ben Nevis.

The room was very clean with a nice sized bathroom. Comfy beds and fresh, clean linen and towels. No common lounge area - or at least didn't see any other than the conservatory however we had a sofa in our room. Good library of books. Breakfasts are great - long list of items and you just tick away what you want...good quality breakfasts (esp black pudding/tattie scones/bacon/sausages). They have their own chickens and as such the eggs are great! Only met the husband of the house - very pleasant, right amount of chat (felt a bit sorry for him actually as he must have to talk about the WHW and Ben Nevis every single day...), helpful. Location wise - is about 5-10 minutes walk from the original end of West Highland Way and about 20-25 minutes from new end of West Highland Way (i.e. latter on the main commercial street of Fort William). I think it took us about 25-30 minutes to get to the start of the Ben Nevis tourist route. From our perspective, the location was fine.

No idea why the most recent review says terrible - certainly cannot agree with them.

My cousin and I have just returned from a 2 day stay at the Ben Nevis B & B. As soon as we arrived, after a long drive up, we were greeted by Janet, who made us feel at home. She couldn't have been more helpful and friendly. The room was so clean and comfortable. Breakfast served by Graeme was delightful, all fresh ingredients, well worth delaying our walk up Ben Nevis for!
We can't thank them enough for making our trip to Ben Nevis so memorable and would definitely recommend this fantastic B & B.
