Description: Open since 1995, the simple cooking and warm, friendly atmosphere has allowed The Mustard Seed to become one of Inverness’s favourite restaurants. The Location on the banks of the River Ness in a converted church building is simply stunning and helps create the wonderful ambience. The transformation from disused church to restaurant created a unique space; with a double-height ceiling and magnificent open log fire. Many of the original period features were retained and combined with a mix of natural and modern finishes. The addition of the terrace on the top floor allows alfresco dining and uninterrupted views of the River, another amazing asset for the restaurant.

Came here for a birthday dinner with friends and cannot fault it.

The service was very good, friendly and prompt, the food was cooked to perfection (tried venison for the first time which was delicious) and Everything was reasonably priced.

Would definitely come back again if I return to Inverness.

“Decor looks underwhelming but food is lovely”
Reviewed December 30, 2013 via mobile

This is the only restaurant where I've really found myself fretting about the decor. Everything else was great.

We popped in here for their early dining menu, as we had a train to catch later. The 2 courses we each ordered were really well executed - for £11.95 they were excellent value. Wine and beer list were great, and waitress largely unfazed by my decision to have local ale with my meal rather than wine.

The decor is just a bit....odd. There's no theme, no clear colour scheme, nor even something a bit quirky and bohemian going on. God knows I'm no Kelly Hoppen slave to beige, but in a restaurant with food this fine, you feel they could have tried harder to put better things on the wall than a garish primary colour picture of some crudely painted vegetables ( surrounded by fairy lights because it's Christmas) and some shelves with totally random artefacts that looked as though they'd been shoved up there 10 mins before it opened for the evening.

Service was speedy, verging on the excessively brisk, but fair enough, this was an early dining menu and they needed the table back by 7. People were queuing politely at the door so I can see why they were a bit keen to hurry us out once we declined pudding. Reward cards were a nice touch, and represent a real bargain to locals/frequent diners.

All in all, a very good meal in a nice bit of Inverness.

“High Standard's Continue.”
Reviewed December 26, 2013

Recently had the chance to jump into the Mustard Seed on a very busy weekday lunchtime. The restaurant was extremely busy but the accommodating staff soon found us a nice spot. Food was excellent once again and very reasonably priced for the lunchtime menu. A particular favourite of mine in Scotland. I will have to give their sister restaurant "The Kitchen" a try the next time I visit this charming wee city.

“Reservations are a must”

Lovely restaurant with the best beer we found in Scotland "Nessie's Monster Mash". Seating is somewhat crowded. Dinner menu was interesting and food was good.
