Description: Since it opened in 2002, Rocpool Restaurant ha become an effervescent Inverness brasserie with a loyal fan base. A cool contemporary decor with lots of bare wood and bold colours give a buzzy vibe to the restaurant which is situated in a prime site on the banks of the River Ness. The kitchen has a repotoire of eclectic modern dishes which use Scotland's matchless produce sprinkled with Mediterranean sunshine, plus a pinch of exotic spice here and there.

“Sea - Land - Dessert. It's ALL good!”
Reviewed July 4, 2009

We made a reservation here after walking past it a couple of times and noticing how crowded it was. The restaurant's decor is modern and the staff very friendly and knowledgeable. The wine selection was decent. What truly wowed us, though, was the food. From the huge plate of steamed mussels I had as an appetizer, to the gorgeous lamb that my son ate as an entree and the to-die-for hot lemon meringue desserts (these take a few mins but are well worth it), it was an all around success. This place offers fresh, excellent seafood as well as a good number of other options for those desiring to eat something that doesn't swim. Of the four dinners we had in Inverness, Rocpool was the best hands-down.

“Local seafood and lamb-finally!”
Reviewed May 30, 2009

We picked this hip, contemporary resturant not only because it was a few blocks from our B&B, but because we wanted to try some local fare (which is harder to do than we expected).
The crab salad was refreshing and sweet. We followed it was a lamb dish and the linguine with mussels, crabs, prawns and scallops. Both we were done well, presented nicely and not overcooked.
The downside to the resturant was the service. While we knew not to expect what we get in the states, the service here was particularly slow. After about 15 minutes and others being served in the not-so-big restuarant teaming with staff, we had to ask for someone to take our drink order. It was hit-or-miss after that.
I highly recommend this for something different, fresh and well prepared.

“Inverness steps up its game”
Reviewed February 2, 2009

I love the Rocpool and eat there regularly. The food is innovative, cleanly presented and most importantly delicious!
Especially good are their scallop starters , with duck ragout and pineapple or pancetta , black pudding and maple sirop..yumm..
Service is informal and friendly , the decor contempory but not over powering. What a difference from hospitality in the highlands in the sixities and seventies!

“AMAZING!”
Reviewed January 30, 2009

Yet again the rocpool didnt disappoint. Me and my partner are regular visitors from glasgow.
We eat out a lot in and around glasgow but with its innovative menu rocpool is maybe the best restaurant we've been to.
Booking 4 days in advance we could only get a table for 9pm. The restaurant was still packed out when we arrive.
As soon as you step in the door the atmosphere is electric, and what a warm welcome from all members of staff. You truly feel like your there only customer.
After 3 amazing courses we left at 10:45 to a still pretty full restaurant.

We have made a vow never to dine anywhere else in inverness and even wish rocpool would think about moving to glasgow. :)
