“Lovely Guest House and Lovely Hosts”
Reviewed May 15, 2012

Stayed at Avalon for 3 nights, found our hosts very welcoming and friendly, had tea and shortbread on arrival (a nice touch after a long journey) Rooms were spotless with really nice extra touches, chocs, wine etc. Bed was very comfortable and cosy. Breakfast was sumptious with lots to choose from (would recommend the scrambles eggs). Our hosts Val an Paul were very friendly andd gave us detailed information on places of interest and even printed out information on places for us. nothing was too much trouble. Would recommend the Urquhart Restaurant and Castle Tavern as this was Val and Pauls recommendation....did not disappoint. Would highly recommend the Avalon to anyone requiring a warm, cosy and friendly guest house.

Room Tip: Room 6 has the most amazing bed......

One night stay, Val and Paul were excellent hosts, lovely touches in the room with chocolates and wine. Great to have private parking as well, close to the centre of Inverness so handy for all the restaurants.

Room Tip: Val and Paul have vouchers for some of the restaurants (e.g. free drink at The Mustard Seed), so alw...

We had visited Avalon a few years ago and were impressed with the standard. Travelled around Scotland this week and booked to stay one night. We found a new couple Val and Paul had now taken over, they were so friendly, made us a tray of tea as we arrived, our room had so many little extras, luxury bath products, a bottle of wine and chocs. Really comfortable stay and lovely breakfast and so much variety. A short walk into Inverness. Would really recommend a stay here when visiting Loch Ness and Inverness.

Stayed here 2 nights while touring round Scotland. As mentioned in other reviews this has been taken over by new owners but have to say it was hard to believe they had only been there 2 weeks. The room was spotless and there was lovely extra touches such as wine and chocolates in the room and fresh flowers. We were on the first floor so had no problems with noise. One big plus for this place is that it has parking which isn't plentiful in Inverness. Breakfast was nice and plenty of choice. Would happily stay here again if we go back to Inverness.

We stayed at Avalon a few weeks ago just for one night. The rooms are clean and every thing worked absolutly fine. The guest house was in a good location for walking into Inverness and there was lots of parking. Everything was as we expected but I am not really sure why this guest house warrants being number 1 in Inverness, to us it seemed an average guest house. We had a ground floor room and could hear every step the people above made which was not so good.

It has recently changed owners and the new owners had been there for just a short time and were finding there feet a little, breakfast was a bit disorganised but nice. The new owners were helpful and chatty giving us ideas on where we could eat.

Stayed 2 nights in a twin share room. Beds were comfortable. Small fridge useful, although no fresh milk supplied which would have been nice. A pleasant 20 minute walk into Inverness.
Breakfast was nice. It was a bit bizarre having to go through about 4 doors to get to our ground floor room. Poor sound insulation as woken by other guest snoring upstairs!
Hostess very kindly did our laundry for us, which was greatly appreciated.

I read the reviews before I went and I wasn't disappointed. The B&B has good ratings for a reason. The owners are really helpful and informative about the area. The room had everything you need and, most importantly, the bed was comfortable and the room was quiet - my first good nights sleep in a week. I had to leave early for the airport so I was given a packed breakfast. I would definitely stay here again.
