We were a family of 6 adults travelling through Scotland. This B and B was just a one-night stop on our way south. It was difficult to find and we got lost with all the roundabouts. But when we found it, we were pleased. The rooms were comfortable with all the expected amenities. The breakfast was delicious and plentiful. The only drawback was the parking lot which was quite crowded. As mentioned by other reviewers, it is conveniently close to the town centre. On our way back from dinner, we strolled along the river walk, past the Cathedral...highly recommended.

My husband and I stayed at this hotel for two nights this July. This B & B is a convenient 10 minute walk to restaurants and shops and offers plenty of room for parking.

While the owners were very friendly and helpful, our room could have used an update. The dark green carpet in the bathroom was a little disturbing and the decor was from the early 80's with tones of hunter green and pink.

A sign in the room indicated if you wanted new towels, please place them in the bathtub and they would be replaced. Having no where to hang our used towels (no towel bars or hooks) we placed them in the tub expecting them to be replaced. Imagine our horror when we arrived home later that day to find our towels hung over an old radiator and a door jam.

Breakfast was nice and served promptly at the time requested.

A curious item was the tip jar the owners left out suggesting guests leave tips over and above the room rental rate. This was a little odd and probably didn't garner many tips.

The Only Dark Green carpet we have in the House is on our hall stair Landing Dining room and Lounge is "The BLACK WATCH" TARTAN CARPET WHICH WORKS OUT AT £85.00 PER SQUARE FOOT, Funny how clients contradict themselves by saying everything was great then give 3stars for service, As to the towels where did they get them from , yes youve got it from the towel rail, funny they couldnt find it to hang them back on,The radiators have all been newly put in in 2011 so it cant be old, I think that they have mixed up various things from our house to another they have strayed in else where,We have NO Dark green carpets in the Bathrooms.please rethink your markings as you say location was teriffic yet only three stars, strange!!

The owners were friendly and welcoming. The rooms were very spacious and clean - the bathrooms were big enough to do a load of 'travel laundry'. Delicious breakfast. Location is fantastic - a short walk from downtown shops and restaurants. The complimentary toiletries were a nice surprise.

We were doing a holiday on the Caledonian Canal and stayed at various hotels on the way up to Scotland and back, and the Acorn was by far the best and beat all of the hotels. It was warm and they even had complementary tootbrushes and razors in the bathroom, plenty of tea and coffee and an excellent breakfast.I would recomend a stay here. Also free WiFi.

Room Tip: We were staying there with friends(5couples) and all ther rooms seemed of a same standard.

We stayed May 23 - 24. The room was really large and well furnished. It is a larger B&B but felt like home. A couple of things stand out: 1. There are plenty of outlets, conveniently located. If you travel in our wired world (iPad, phone, camera, ipod, etc.) you know how important it is to have enough places to power up. 2. Our hosts had all kinds of extras (tooth brushes, razor and, surprisingly absent in every other B & B and hotel: "face clothes!"

The breakfasts were really great. Plenty of excellent food that you can watch being prepared.

Restaurant suggestions were very helpful. It was a short walk to a large mall and shopping area with lots of choices to eat.

Room Tip: All seem nice

This charming old house is much bigger on the inside. Every room has antiques and stained glass. The host was very helpful and pointed us in the right direction to venture out for supper since we arrived late in the day. Breakfast was wonderful. Only problem was, one of our party developed an allergic reaction to the detergent that the sheets were washed in (not their fault). She had a lovely sleep but woke up rather spotted and swollen.
