From the moment, our party of four working ladies arrived at Abermar, our hosts Allison & James, could not have been more kind. Inviting us to use the Guest lounge was heaven, enabling us to unwind over a glass or two of wine in comfortable surroundings. A true 'home-from-home', and so very much appreciated. My room (11) on the first floor overlooked the quiet road, large comfy 4' bed for single occupancy, with beautiful bed-linen, ensured a good night's rest. En-suite with an array of toiletries, including plasters, cotton buds and make-up pads (most thoughtful). The shower is placed high enough for the tallest of Guests, powerful and hot... perfect. Flat-screen wall-mounted TV, free WiFi. Delicious breakfast, including fresh fruit & creamy yoghurt. Perfectly poached egg, yummy sausage and mushrooms, served on lovely white china, left me feeling replete. An added bonus, particularly in Inverness is the large off-street car parking area at the back of the house, with helpful security lighting. A full set of keys enabled us to come and go as we pleased.

Delightful spacious and well fitted room and en suite. Delicious breakfast. Helpful and friendly
owners. Off street parking and easy walking distance river and town centre. An excellent stay.

The house in general is beautiful and clean, and the hosts are very helpful and friendly. Breakfast is great, and the location in a quiet road with lots of other B&Bs is ideal for going into town. Personally, I had a problem with the single room (#11). The ensuite facility obviously has been installed later, so that the window is opposite the bathroom wall with just one meter in between. You can't stand in front of the window and look outside, because there's the clothes rack (no wardrobe in the room), the daylight doesn't really fall into the room and it feels like some kind of big storeroom. If you don't mind, then everything is fine, and I would go again into this house, but ask for another room for better value for money.

This guest house has met all our expectations. It was centrally based, just a few roads away from the city centre. The hosts were very friendly and helpful. The bedroom and bathroom were spotlessly clean. We were served generous breakfasts with poached, scrambled or fried eggs, bacon, sausages, mushrooms, baked beans and tomatoes. I cannot leave out the black pudding which was delicious! I recommend this guest house to everyone and would definitely stay there again!

Abermar is everything I expected it to be, just like I saw it on its website – a beautifully decorated house with a nice small garden, in a green and peaceful neighborhood. Actually it is better, as the host did everything right, friendly, helpful, the room is impeccably clean and every little décor is just at the right place with the right amount. And, the breakfast! It was among the best I had in Scotland, I loved the way they cook mushrooms, the porridge was perfect and the poached eggs too…

James is great at recommending restaurants, things to do and places to go. The Kitchen as recommended by James was a great place to have a glass of wine and enjoy fresh local seafood by the river side – you may want to make a reservation though as the place is often full at the dinner time.

The guest house is about 10 - 15 minutes walk away from the city center, along the way you would see various flowering plants in front of the houses lining the street, cross a bridge and walk along river side, it is quite pleasant just to walk around.

I would recommend a visit to Inverness Museum and Art Gallery if you are interested in exploring the art, history and heritage of the Highlands. The place closes at 5:00pm; I wish I had more time to spend there.

The guest house is also a convenient drive from the attractions to the south of the Moray Firth, e.g., Culloden, Cawdor Castle, and Loch Ness.

If we ever go back to Inverness, I would definitely stay at the Abermar Guest House again.
