First of all, the staff are excellent. We were travelling as part of a group and the check-in was swift and easy. Both members of staff were really friendly. On checking out we were able to leave our bags in a locked cupboard which was really helpful. Again, the receptionist was really friendly.

Location is great too, very central. 5 mins from bus and train stations. Short walk to the High Street. There isn't any parking at the hotel, and the nearest multi-story is at the bus station.

The hotel in general needs a spruce up, there is scuffed paint and things look a bit tatty. The room on initial inspection seemed fine, if a wee bit tatty- the fascia had chipped off one of the cabinets which looked unsightly. However, the bed was firm- always a plus. The bathroom was pretty depressing; green and grey decor, the towel rail had cracked paint and the signage was warn and dated. As we were only there for one night, we weren't too bothered about it.

However, on closer inspection there was a lot of dust in the room, and cob webs on top of the lights. The soap dish fixer to shower was also pretty grimey. At £59 a night, I would expect the rooms to be cleaned to a better standard.

Other people have mentioned issues with noise. We were there on a Saturday night and in the hotel itself it was fine but there was a club somewhere nearby that you could hear. However, we did have the window open so that probably added to it. I would expect some noise in a city centre, so no big deal.

We wouldn't go back to the hotel because of the cleaning issues. However the staff were first class. Hotel Manager- bring the hotel up to the standard of the staff- a lick of paint and some dusting would go a long way!

After reading some reviews I arrived not expecting much, but in fact the hotel was clean staff very good. My bathroom alone was bigger than many onsuite single rooms in other hotels. Very good value for money. I suspect a weekend stay may be noisy at chucking out time but during my stay not a problem. Negative; Breakfast was a bit uncordinated and the bins of empties from the night before would be better outside

8 of us stayed for the weekend after walking The Great Glen Way. Staff very efficient and friendly. Great atmosphere in bar especially Saturday night with all the stagg and hen parties. Breakfast excellent value for money with plenty choice all cooked well.
Throughly recommend it. Only minor complaint - it could do with a lick of paint.

We stayed here for one night in July and weren't overly impressed.
The hotel and bar were very run down and had an uncared for appearance. The food was bog standard Wetherspoons grub, so great surprises or disappointments.
The best thing about our stay was the lovely king size bed, if only our room had a larger window and a view of something other than a chimney.
I wouldn't stay here again, we paid £60 and could have got better accommodation for the same price.

we had 2 nights in this hotel and it certainly wasnt the worst we,ve stayed in.the rooms while maybe needing a wee bit moderning, were clean and adequate.the bathrooms were clean and fresh towels were provided twice during our stay.the price of food reflects the quality of it,but any wetherspoons lodge or pub serve all the same food, with the odd change here and there.but the food was good value and filling.the staff at this hotel are very polite, extremely efficient and helpful.the hotel is bang in the town centre, convenient for everywhere.the bar gets very busy friday and saturday nightsowing to the reasonable prices of their drink.all in all a good place to stay.
