Staying at The Tilt is like going home to visit your mum and dad, complete with great breakfasts, comfy beds and peace and quiet! Lovely.
The Tilt is located about 20 minutes' walk from the Invereness High street. The walk along Kingsmills Road is pleasant and easy, and passes directly in front of The Fluke, a great local pub. From the pub, The Tilt is a bare 300 paces. There's a small grocery shop there too, where one can find the necessities - milk, fruit and cereals and the like, beer, wine, spirits and other goodies.
Rooms at The Tilt are spotless, well lit and very comfortable. The bathroom is shared, but as there are only three rooms in the B&B, it too is perfectly maintained, spotless and SPACIOUS!
The breakfast room at The Tilt looks over a small but lush garden full of birds and silky greenery. John and June Fiddes are both proud of their peaceful hideaway garden. John is quite knowledgeable about the plantlife there.
John is an avid hiker and has an excellent knowledge of hiking in the highlands. As a daily walker, June knows every street and roadway in Inverness.
For those who prefer public transportation, the #3 bus passes directly in front of The Tilt. Fares to Inverness's vibrant downtown are only 2.35 Sterling. Bus passes are available on request from the bus drivers for those who'll make full use of city transit. These passes provide a very economical way to get around Inverness and its local area.
The Tilt is a very short walk from Raigmore Hospital, which serves the entire Highlands of Scotland. For those with family in the hospital, The Tilt provides a stress free, supportive environment for family members dealing with hospitalised loved-ones.
The Tilt is within easy walking distance of several car hires. We found the Enterprise car hire to be suprememly accommodating, as they will come to The Tilt to pick you up and will drop you back when you're finished using their car.
The Tilt is the perfect location for those who intend to explore the highlands as it is only a minute by car to the A9, which leads to Perth, Edinburgh, Sterling and Glasgow.
The B&B is also within easy access of the A82, which leads to Fort William via Drumnadrochit, a quaint town on the Loch Ness, past Urquhart Castle, down the lochs towards Invergary, Fort Agustus, Spean Bridge, past the stately Ben Nevis and on to Fort William and access to Islay and Jura (via Ferry).
For those looking to be close to but not on top of the High Street, The Tilt provides an excellent, peaceful oasis, close to everything.
Loved it and highly recommend it.
